About this project
"It's time to stand up. In 2012-we can close the Cage!''
WHAT IS PANDORA'S CAGE?
PANDORA'S CAGE is an independent film that focuses on the crisis of human trafficking- especially in America. The film will explore many of the faces (directly and obscurely) that fuel this machine of injustice. The title serves as a metaphor based off the mythos of Pandora's box. We want this film to be a catalyst for our audiences to stand together and fight against human trafficking.
The film will follow 3 main characters as they are suddenly catapulted into the dark and criminal industry of using human beings for profit. They will see and experience events that will impact their lives forever. Nothing can ever prepare them for what's down the road- their journey will cause them to begin pursuing a a way of escape and searching for the real truth.
Pandora's Cage will be told in a subjective / point of view style of filmmaking. We believe that the film in a point of view style will help connect with audiences better to understand the severity of the problem. In doing so, presenting our story in this format can open up a new way for audiences to understand and reveal the fueling attributes and impact that trafficking has on humanity.
WHY ARE WE RAISING MONEY?
PANDORA'S CAGE simply can NOT be created unless we have the adequate funds for the film. We've pledged a minimum of $10,000 needed in the budget, but we would like to raise more in order to cover the full funds of production. Some elements of our budget include:
- -Cameras- Shooting on a Canon 600D, Canon 7D, and the GoPro
- -Sound Equipment
- -Rigs & Steadicams
- -Set Design material
- -Makeup & Costumes
- -Location Permits
- -Post Production Materials
- -Soundtrack ft. songwriter Anderson Kursonis
WHEN WILL THE FILM BE RELEASED?
If we achieve our budget goals, we plan on filming PANDORA'S CAGE this summer! (2012). The shooting schedule will last over the course of around 2 weeks, and then it will take a few more weeks for the post-production stages.
The film is scheduled to be completed and ready for release in the fall! After completion of Pandora's Cage, we aim to enter the film into festivals and have screenings in multiple locations throughout the country. YOUR city could have a screening!
WHY CREATE A FILM LIKE PANDORA'S CAGE?
Human trafficking is a very serious and global issue that occurs everywhere, and this illegal trade is on the rise. Trafficking is bigger than what we think it is. It's scary to think that such a detestable industry occurs throughout the United States, and in our own backyards. We know that film is a powerful medium, and we (the team behind Pandora's Cage) are all passionate to help cease this crime that effects men, women, and children all over the world. We are all truly sincere about this social injustice. Even though our film's story is fictional, sadly the reality is not.
HOW CAN I HELP?
Thank you for asking! At the top of this screen, you can donate money just by clicking the PLEDGE button on the upper right! PLEDGES start at $1, but you can pledge as much as you would like. Under the pledge button, we have a list of different tiered rewards that you will receive from donating. EVERYONE gets a reward for backing this project-even if you can only donate $1.
WILL YOU KEEP US UPDATED?
Of course! We love our community- If it weren't for our backers and fans, we wouldn't be able to do anything or complete this project. Thanks to you-we'll be able to share our vision with the world. We'll constantly keep you updated with the latest news and information regarding our film. You can follow our Facebook and Twitter pages for more info.
Again, THANK YOU for everything. Together, we can stop this Cage!
CAN WE KEEP UP WITH PANDORA'S CAGE OUTSIDE OF KICKSTARTER?
Yes! Besides keeping you updated on our Kickstarter page, you can follow us on Facebook, Twitter, and Google Plus!
Kickstarter is a new way to fund creative projects.
We believe that:
• A good idea, communicated well, can spread fast and wide.
• A large group of people can be a tremendous source of money and encouragement.
Kickstarter is powered by a unique all-or-nothing funding method where projects must be fully-funded or no money changes hands.
To pledge to a project, just click the green “Back This Project” button on any project page. You will be asked to enter your pledge amount and select a reward. From there, you will go through the Amazon checkout process. Note that you must finish the Amazon checkout process for your pledge to be recorded.
If the project you’re backing is successfully funded, your card will be charged when the project reaches its funding deadline. If the project does not reach its funding goal, your card is never charged. That's why we call them pledges.
Nothing. If funding is unsuccessful, all pledges are canceled and that's that.
Kickstarter uses Amazon's Flexible Payments Service, which enables our all-or-nothing funding method. No other credit card processor currently supports our requirements. We're always talking with other companies and exploring other services, so expect more options in the future.
Visit the project page and click “Manage Your Pledge.” Enter a new amount in the pledge amount box. Note that you are not adding to your existing pledge; the amount you enter will be the total amount collected if the project is successfully funded.
Sorry, Kickstarter only supports credit card payments through Amazon Payments.
Every Kickstarter project must be fully funded before its time expires or no money changes hands.
1. It's less risk for everyone. If you need $5,000, it's tough having $2,000 and a bunch of people expecting you to complete a $5,000 project.
2. It allows people to test concepts (or conditionally sell stuff) without risk. If you don't receive the support you want, you're not compelled to follow through. This is huge!
3. It motivates. If people want to see a project come to life, they're going to spread the word.
