STRETCH GOAL 1 - $23,000
We will record Chad Cannon's original score with live musicians! The recording session will be streamed for Kickstarter Backers.
STRETCH GOAL 2 - $25,000
Tim will live stream animation once a week for the remainder of the production of Mushroom Park.
Two friends fight to stay alive in the vast, mysterious world of Mushroom Park.
If you believe in hand drawn animation, believe in Mushroom Park. This is a film about the power of turning back when you have every reason to walk away- love and forgiveness, mortality and redemption.
Untamed, unpredictable and independent.
Betsy Sodaro (Disjionted) delivers a stunning performance as cranky wild-child "Derek" and Shondalia White (American Horror Story) charms as eternal optimist "Roger".
Handling art direction is Bill Wray (Ren & Stimpy), a true revolutionary in the field of animation design. His color and texture are as bold as ever. Tim Rauch (StoryCorps, Bojack) is the creator/director/animator.
But pictures are nothing without sound! The spirit of Mushroom Park finds true expression in an original score by composer Chad Cannon (Paper Lanterns). Once animation is complete, Boom Box Post (The Loud House, Ducktales) will tackle sound design - and they're guaranteed to make it shine!
It's a great team and the goal is in sight. With a little help from you, Mushroom Park will be..
TIM RAUCH co-created the Peabody award-winning StoryCorps: The Animated Series. Combining traditional cartoon aesthetics with tear-jerking emotional subtlety, his work has been called "Must-see, can't-miss, your-life-depends-on-it-TV" (Time) and "highbrow, brilliant" (New York Magazine).
BETSY SODARO is a massively talented comedic performer whose television credits include Disjointed, Comedy Bang! Bang!, and Bob's Burgers. Find her at the UCB-LA or on her twin podcasts Horny 4 Horror & A Funny Feeling.
SHONDALIA WHITE is a high wattage performer bursting with charisma. You may have seen her in American Horror Story: CULT (FX), Adam Ruins Everything (TruTV) or performing stand-up regularly at The Comedy Store, The Ice House or Flappers in LA.
BILL WRAY's work as Background Supervisor on The Ren & Stimpy Show infected the minds of a generation through vibrations and frequencies in certain formerly unknown regions of the medulla oblongata. As a painter, William works in a contemporized reflection of traditional California regional painting, with a focus on humble subject matter rarely considered as fine art.
Composer CHAD CANNON's unique style is quickly launching him to prominence. He has orchestrated on films grossing billions worldwide, including The Hobbit & Guardians of the Galaxy. His haunting score for Hiroshima doc PAPER LANTERNS (2016) is available from Quartet Records.
BOOM BOX POST - Creme de la creme! A design focused sound studio founded by Kate Finan & Jeff Shiffman in 2014. They are the masterminds behind every snap, crackle and pop for shows like DuckTales, The Loud House and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
BRANDON DENMARK has worked on a wide range of projects - Skullgirls, StoryCorps, Niko & the Sword of Light. The common thread through it all? Dynamic animation by this guy.
WHY SUPPORT MUSHROOM PARK?
Cartoons like this aren't backed by large corporations- talking about "redemption" doesn't sell toothpaste and bath towels. But it will lift hearts and minds, and hopefully that's something you can get behind.
It began with a single drawing in 2013 - two boys, huddled together in the rain. How did they get there and where were they going?
Over the next four years I wrote a script, drew storyboards, recorded actors and began animation. The script tightened and design evolved. I began to dream up sequences I never would have thought possible before. The result is a compelling story told with visual flair rarely achieved outside the studio system.
Voices have been recorded and edited. Animation is 50% complete. Backgrounds and music are underway.
If the campaign is successful, we expect the following timeline-
DECEMBER - Back into full production
JUNE - Animation complete, music composed.
JULY - Picture lock and sound design.
AUGUST - Apply to festivals and determine timing of web release.
SEPTEMBER - Rewards sent to backers.
We've gotten this far and we're hoping you can carry us home.
WHAT WE NEED
We are asking for $20k budgeted as follows-
In a world where budgets for animation are frequently $15,000+ per minute, the Mushroom Park team is putting out something totally unique at just over $1,000/minute. We have invested thousands of hours already and paid for actors' fees and recording studio rental to get Mushroom Park where it is today. With a little boost we can clear the finish line!
Every like, every share, every dollar helps. We've got some great rewards planned to say 'thanks'!
So help however you can — share our links, contribute, send positive vibes. Show us some love and we'll show you Mushroom Park!
Oh, and this stuff-
Risks and challenges
With the team focused and 50% of the animation finished, I fully anticipate releasing Mushroom Park in 2018. We have thoroughly vetted our rewards for pricing and logistics and will be prepared to deliver when production on the film is complete. As the next year unfolds, we'll keep you posted on the progress of Mushroom Park through the backers-only production blog.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
