The internal show is an opportunity for all our final year fashion students to showcase our work to friends, family, tutors and fellow students. We use the show as an opportunity to celebrate the hard work and effort put into the production of our final collections. Each student will have models wear their collections down the catwalk which is a fantastic opportunity to have professional photographs taken that can then be used in portfolios. It's also an exciting opportunity to see the creative vision of our year group come to life. And a great ending to three years of very hard work!

We need funding to cover the cost of lights, photography, models, venue, production and much more. The show is organised independently by us students and we have already ran events throughout the year including pub quizzes, club nights, SU nights, clothes sales, bake sales, a tuck shop, an auction and a biweekly life drawing class to raise money. But unfortunately without additional support from external sources we cannot achieve this and only a handful of students will be able to show their work in full.

This year we are hoping to use local companies for hair and makeup and sponsorships. And we are staying local by keeping the show in Kingston, in the beautiful All Saints Church in the market square. This is our last chance to do something fantastic together, celebrating our own talent and the community that allowed us to develop it.

Risks and challenges

Our main challenge is the actual raising of the money. Although we have done all we can to fundraise internally, and to source sponsorships and donations we have a total of roughly £18,000 to raise to cover all costs. We have raised just over half of this amount so far and we are keeping costs to a minimum where possible. Fundraising is time consuming, and we have to make the work to go in the show! We have great help from the first and second years on our course and from the people that surround us, but without donations from everyone we can reach then the internal show project just can't happen the way it does.
