The end of a journey, battery replacements, and a new project

Posted by Alberta Watches (Creator)

Hello Alberta Watch family!

It's been a very long time since I last got in touch! Things have been quietly ticking along in the background (haha), and we have hit some incredible milestones, selling over 1000 watches! It has been an incredible learning experience for me and it has been a privilege to talk with all of you and hear your incredible stories.

It is bittersweet, but I will not be making another production run of the watch.

As a final thank you, I will be reducing the price of remaining stock to the original Kickstarter prices until they are sold out.

This means watches will start at $80 CAD! We currently have about 35 watches remaining in Midnight Blue and Slate Grey.

Battery replacements and continued service

After ticking faithfully for over 3 years, it is around this time that many of the original Kickstarter watches are in need of a battery replacement. The easiest way to do this is to take the watch to a jeweler or watch repair shop. This usually costs around $10-15.

Some of you have also expressed interest in replacing their straps. They are now available here.

Lastly, Alberta Watches are guaranteed for two years. This will continue even after stock has sold out, as I have put aside some replacement watches just in case.

My next project, Work Ahead

One of my main goals for Alberta Watches was to have an ethically made product. This is why I worked with some of the most reputable manufacturers and brought some of the production home in the form of the Saddlemaker straps.

Still, I realized there must be a better way to learn about the working conditions behind the products we buy.

That is why I have been working on a startup called Work Ahead. We work with international brands to speak directly with the people who make their products. These workers tell us about their working conditions, which helps brands and suppliers improve.

If you would like to follow us on this new journey to make retail more transparent, ethical, and fair, please sign up for email updates here.

I can't thank you all enough for your trust in me through this project and your support. It has been a bright spot in my life, and an honour.

Thank you 🍻,

It's been a pleasure to be involved in your kickstarter and I wish you luck on your next journey. That said I'm a little sad that this is the end of Alberta Watches, or is it? I hope you return some day.
