UPDATE: We reached our goal in 2 days and now we're doing a stretch goal of $5,000 to pay for post-production costs! We added new rewards and have two bonuses for our loyal pledgers! Check out Update #4 for more info.
The concept is based off of an improv form developed in Chicago called Close Quarters. The gist is simple enough: each episode will take place in or around a specific location. We jump between a handful of characters and story lines and end each episode with a lead-in to the next episode and location.
The cast is primarily made up of the improvisers from Samurai Drunk, although we will use other local talent to fill out each episode. We use improvisation to write each script (since improv is one of our greatest strengths). We improvise with one another and when we find something that works, we write it down and build on that.
We are attempting to raise $2,000 to offset the cost of producing our pilot episode. The money will go to the following:
- A professional crew and top-notch equipment
- Wardrobe and make-up
- Paying for the location (although we're trying to get that for free)
$2,000 would allow us to make this pilot on a barebones budget, but sadly it will not allow us to pay for some of the nice-to-haves that will put this project over the edge. Namely post-production costs like color correction and professionally-mixed sound. These are things we would really love to have and if we all pitch in a little we can afford to make something really stellar. And yes, the members of Samurai will be helping fund this project too because we believe in it (obviously) and we want to see it made.
We couldn't be more excited about this project and would love your support. If you have any questions please contact us via the Kickstarter page.
Performing as a troupe since 2011, Samurai Drunk is Anthony Foreman, Chris Henson, Derek Hopf, Nathan Larison, Brian Moody, Colten Winburn, and Tim Yager. We're known for our high energy and reckless support of one another's ideas.

Risks and challenges
Being that this is an independent venture the risks and challenges we face stem from not having a plethora of connections to Hollywood. However, if we find that we can't get picked up in the traditional sense that won't stop us from exploring the many online distribution models offered by companies like Netflix, Hulu, and Vimeo.
We know that as long as we work hard to make the best content we can the cream will rise to the top, so to speak, and the rest will take care of itself.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
