A prototype is a preliminary model of something. Projects that offer physical products need to show backers documentation of a working prototype. This gallery features photos, videos, and other visual documentation that will give backers a sense of what’s been accomplished so far and what’s left to do. Though the development process can vary for each project, these are the stages we typically see:

Blueberry Mesh is an unique, ultra-small, stackable, modular electronics development platform specializing in Mesh networking and Internet of Things devices.
Don't let all the buzz words fool you :) the hardware can also be used for general purpose development similar to Arduino compatible boards. If there is enough interest I would consider adding Blueberry Mesh to the Arduino IDE.
Along with the cool hardware Blueberry Mesh has an accompanying mobile App that can run on phones and tablets. With the Blueberry Mesh App all development and coding can happen without a computer in the palm of your hand! The App has device discovery, a graphical programming system called Blockly, and a lower level Script language with C-style syntax called Berry Script. With the Blueberry Mesh App anyone can get started with Internet of Things development!
I have had this idea in my head for years from the first Bluetooth Low Energy IC I tinkered with five or more years ago. Bluetooth Low Energy allows devices to talk to one another via a simple packet structure. Bluetooth Low Energy also allows smart phones and tablets to easily talk to the same devices. Blueberry Mesh is built on Bluetooth Low Energy or BLE chips. I like to play with wireless BLE stuff now but I also think if I was my kid self again this is the kind of thing I would spend countless hours tinkering with in my parents basement :)
Not only is the hardware cool but the software is amazing. Each Blueberry Main Board automatically and wirelessly communicates with each other. They can also communicate with smart phones and tablets. Messages are sent via a simple "channel" -> "value" pair. For example you send a "1" on channel "10" to turn on the Red LED and a "0" on channel "10" to turn it off. There are thousands of channels and each value can be up to 14 bytes long. The program that handles the channel -> value pairs is modified via a simple script language and uploaded wirelessly over the mesh network.
My goal is to get this platform in the hands of makers like myself! To do that I need funding and I believe the Kickstarter community is a good fit for Blueberry Mesh. I need to get the manufacturing line rolling and the software finalized. With your help I think Blueberry Mesh can be something incredible for all generations of makers!
The funding goal was set to start manufacturing 1000 various Blueberry Boards.
The Blueberry Mesh App allows you to scan for Blueberry Devices, save and edit Berry Scripts and Blockly Designs, upload your programs to Blueberry Devices, monitor the Blueberry Mesh, and create a GUI for controlling your unique Blueberry creation.
Blueberry Mesh can easily be extended into the Cloud and offer Internet based events and communication with a wide variety of Cloud platforms, including IFTTT. A gateway is needed to map the Blueberry Mesh Bluetooth signals to either WiFi, Cellular or both. I have a prototype gateway built with Python and an IFTTT bridge via a node.js server.
I am planning on releasing this in the near future however if I reach the stretch goal of $75,000.00 the WiFi / Cellular Gateway will be offered as part of this campaign.
The Blueberry Mesh protocol is open. Any BLE enabled device can connect to and communicate with Blueberry Mesh. I am also in development of a Unity 3D plug-in for easy integration into your own creations if that is something you what you want to do!
Risks and challenges
I develop systems like Blueberry Mesh professionally every day! I don't foresee many risks on the development side of things. What I have had issues with in the past are delays in part fulfillment from suppliers. However, I have tried to mitigate that by choosing readily available parts and staying away from exotic stuff.
Reward fulfilment has always been challenging. Normally when you grow a product it starts small and demand and sales steadily increase. With a Kickstarter campaign rewards come in one big batch and it can be overwhelming. I would love to have that challenge!

The Blueberry Motor Board allows for the connection and control of up to four 1.8 Amp DC motors. There can be up to 4 Motor Boards connected to 1 Main Board for up to 16 motors connected to one Main Board!
The Blueberry Audio +IR Board is used to listen for sound, produce sound and also has some interesting IR functionality. It has a Piezo Buzzer and a MEMS microphone. It also has an IR transceiver. The IR transceiver can be use as a beam break or proximity detector, it can also read code from TV remote controls!
The Blueberry IMU Board contains an Inertial Measurement Unit. An IMU allows you to get the orientation of the board in 3D space. What is unique about this particular IMU is that it handles all the sensor fusion on board so you get a single Quaternion output on the I2C bus!
