Introducing Blue-Rx...

Blue-Rx is a Bluetooth (4.0 / BLE / Smart) compatible remote control receiver. Use Blue-Rx to control servos, electronic speed controllers, relays, solenoids, LED's or anything else that uses PWM (pulse width modulation), from your iPhone or other Bluetooth 4.0 device, wirelessly.  

You can even control multiple Blue-Rx units at once for an almost unlimited number of servo / PWM channels!

Blue-Rx easily replaces a standard remote control receiver!

Control any RC car, plane, robot, helicopter, boat, or ... from your iPhone, or other Bluetooth 4.0 device. Just replace the factory receiver with the Blue-Rx receiver and use a Bluetooth 4.0 device for control. For example add iPhone accelerometer control to your old RC-Car!

Need to add some eye catchiness to your next project use a Blue-Rx to add up to 16 LEDs with full brightness control.

I need your help!

I would like to bring the Blue-Rx to the masses. I have the prototype built and a couple Open Source iPhone apps finished, with an Android and Desktop version in the works.  I need a kickstart from you to get the the PCBs ordered and assembled in quantity and I need to setup a website for orders after the Kickstarter project is finished.  I also need to setup a forum to host the example client software, and a technical support system.

If the project continues to fund here are a couple other funding goals!

Stretch Goal #1

$50,000.00 - Custom injection molded case.  Injection molds are expensive, but it would be a great addition to the project!  If we meet this goal each Blue-Rx will come complete in a awesome case.

Stretch Goal #2

$75,000.00 - A universal iPhone / Android app to control a car, plane, or multi-rotor craft. I will also integrate it with ArduPilot.  I am in development of a universal "transmitter" app and this would get it finished.  Out of the box the Bluetooth API will allow you to control the Blue-Rx but it would be nice to have a unified polished example.  Right now I have three separate proof of concept apps that you can download...

Who am I?

Glad you asked!  I am a mobile software developer and embedded systems designer living in Eagle, Idaho... just outside Boise.  I have a beautiful wife and two awesome kids.  My son is our families 5th generation in Idaho, he has a 102 year old great-great grandmother alive and kicking!

I want to stay in Idaho but the "creative" technical job market in the Boise area is slim.  So, I am taking matters into my own hands, with the help of Kickstarter and You of course!, to hopefully create a better future for my family.

The Blue-Rx is the first of a few projects that I have had wrestling around in my head to launch via Kickstarter.  

My formal degree is in electrical engineering with a minor in computer science and applied mathematics.

Where did the idea come from?

I am working on another project with a good friend and very talented mechanical engineer Travis Dean.  This is a spin off of that project which is also RC based. I can't tell you much about it at the moment but you will hopefully see it on Kickstarter soon!
