A prototype is a preliminary model of something. Projects that offer physical products need to show backers documentation of a working prototype. This gallery features photos, videos, and other visual documentation that will give backers a sense of what’s been accomplished so far and what’s left to do. Though the development process can vary for each project, these are the stages we typically see:

How Does It Work?
If you pledge for an Air-Scribe Original you get a complete spinner custom made with Air-Scribe Technology ready to go. If you pledge for a Air-Scribe Retro you get Air-Scribe Bearing Pucks and Spin Base that replace your current bearings, see the image below:

Air-Scribe Spinners can be programmed with your own message, graphics, and animation! They use light patterns to get their message information. Just go to http://www.airscribespinners.com, type in your message, and hold your Air-Scribe up to the programming port on the screen!

There is a minimum batch order per-color for the production of each part. If the campaign funds well we will order enough of each part to support the addition of multiple colors. You will be able to choose your color at the end of the campaign.
The custom message feature works with all major Internet Browsers on desktop and mobile devices. However, it can be better! With a mobile app there can be a lot more features and better user interface control and design. We want to show this off but it doesn't make sense unless the campaign funds well with a lot of backers!

Air-Scribe was designed and built by my company Star Technologies. We specialize in bringing electronic products to market from the prototype stage through production. This particular project was spearheaded by Luke Williams. Luke is a recent addition to Star Technologies and I am very pleased with his work on Air-Scribe and hope you are too!
Risks and challenges
The biggest challenge we can foresee is supply chain and logistics problems. We are really good at designing prototypes and handing the design off to be produced, this is what we do every day! This is also our third Kickstarter project so we know the ropes. However, if there is a huge response to our little invention then it may be hard to get parts to fulfill the pledges in the time allotted. We plan to alleviate this risk by designing Air-Scribe with very common parts and interchangeable processors and portable code. This will allow us to easily switch to different manufacturing partners.
