Gig McKell's album project has one simple goal: to produce a great album of "Organic Pop" and to launch a tour.
My goal is to raise $2000 for my current project based on recording songs that I have been writing over the past year. I plan to record at House of Breaking Glass http://www.houseofbreakingglass.com/ - a studio in Seattle under the production of Grammy nominated producer Phil Peterson who has contributed to recent successful albums by Owl City, The Posies, Gym Class Heroes (feat. Adam Levine) and many more.
I have already have four songs recorded and mixed ("Daylight Traces", "Little Brown Shoe", "War People" and "Around") and I have six songs that are ready to be recorded. Phil and I work very well together and we apply a great deal of creativity to the process which prevents us from getting bogged down in technical and analytical details that tend to slow down studio projects.
I have amassed a great deal of industry contacts over the years, many who are eager to hear the results. My goal is to create a great record that transcends time and demography and helps me launch a new phase of my career.
My plan is to spend 10 days recording, several days mixing and mastering and to complete the project by early 2012 with a tour to follow.
