A madcap and chaotic card game that is fun for the whole family! The Meerkat tribes are at war and have descended into anarchy, each competing faction is determined to prove they are best! This game is a real furball, as not all Meerkats fight fair, and there are many dirty tricks a player can employ in order to get one up on his rivals!
The goal of this Kickstarter is to fund the first run of Meerkat Slammers and bring it into distribution. We have all the art, layout and play-testing finished and ready to go - as soon as we hit our goal absolutely everything is ready to go to print! We really hope you will help us unleash this incredibly fun game onto the public.
Playing the Game
--- This section is a transcript from the video above ---
Each player is dealt 15 cards arranged in 5 piles one with 1 card the second with 2 and so on. The top card of each pile is turned face up and the rest of the deck is place face down in the middle.
Now take a deep breath, as you are about to begin…
There are no orderly turns in Meerkat Slammers, it is a riotous free-for-all, where the quickest and most observant player will win. The topmost card of the deck is turned over to create the discard pile and the chaos begins.
Every clan card features a fighting score. You may place any of your face up cards on the discard pile so long as its fighting score is one below or one above the number of the topmost card on the discard pile. If you play a card you can quickly turn over the topmost card of the pile it came from. In addition you may always have a maximum of 5 individual piles, just move any face up card from your current piles to create a new one.
Event cards can be played at any time, slam them down next to the discard pile and shout their name. Play is stopped and the event instructions are carried out. Once an event is complete a new round begins.
The objective is to get rid of all your cards. However this alone is not enough, many potential clan leaders have come undone at the last moment. As soon as a player is rid of their last card, any player may slam their palm down on the discard pile and claim the victory.
You can check out the current rules sheet here. The rules will be available, for free, throughout the Kickstarter and will be updated with any added changes.
Thank you for your support! Your name will be etched in Meerkat Legend and added to the rules sheet of the Meerkat Slammers card game!

A unique opportunity. All Pledges at this level will work with the Art Director at Mongoose Publishing to create their own Meerkat, name and appearance, that will be added to the game before release. The Meerkat can have the appearance and name of anything the pledger wishes, from pop cultural parody to real world likeness. Some minor restrictions will apply. In addition you will also receive a signed copy of the game and an 8"x10" print of your Meerkat exclusive to you! They will never be reprinted for anyone else.
If we make it to £10,000 we will also produce a variant to Meerkat Slammers that has been on the cards for a while; Goblin Slammers! Goblin Slammers will have new art and layout to reflect the fantastical and humorous persona of the Goblins. We already have artists Pedro Potier (pepotier.daportfolio.com) and Nick Egberts (www.nickegberts.nl) on stand-by should we reach this goal and they have been kind enough to supply us with some preliminary concepts.
If we reach this goal, all pledges of £10 or more will receive a copy of Goblin Slammers for FREE.
Should we reach this goal, Goblin Slammers will not be available until later in the year whereas Meerkat Slammers will be in our hands much sooner!
As an added incentive, exclusively for backers on Kickstarter, we are going to offer one FREE 8" x 10" Meerkat Slammers print to all pledges if we hit £10,000.
Kickstarter is a proven method of releasing products that could otherwise sit in development limbo for years - as Meerkat Slammers has done! The art, layout and play-testing is already complete so we just need your help to fund the first run of Meerkat Slammers.
Card Games are not our usual products, and so we do not have the free funds to release Meerkat Slammers as soon as we would like (Judge Dredd and Rogue Trooper are taking up all our resources!). With the successful funding of this project not only will we be able to release Meerkat Slammers, but it may also pave the way for us to develop exciting games using more adventurous mediums.
We believe the best way to develop our games is with the help of our fanbase. We genuinely value all your input with the production of these amazing products and wish to carry on rewarding you with excellent games and marvellous goodies found only on Kickstarter.
Risks and challenges
The risks of this project are minimal, simply because all the hard work (the game design, art and playtesting) has already been done, as evidenced by the prototype pack you see used in the video!
Also, we are using a card printer we know well and have used before (for our Ant Assault game), so there should not be any surprises there either.
We have therefore managed to reduce any risk associated with projects of this nature, as we have completed all design aspects already and literally just need to hit the 'print' button to get things moving! Nevertheless, we have doubled the expected printing and shipping time, just to give us the ability to deal with anything unexpected!
Finally, because this project has been completed on the development side, it will not affect, or be affected by, any other Kickstarter project we have done recently, such as the Rogue Trooper miniatures game.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
