After Motion Device’s first successful Kickstarter campaign and the release of their debut EP ‘Welcome to the Rock Revolution’ in 2014 it has become very clear that fans all over the world are getting hooked on the band’s unique and heavy sound. The demand for more new material has brought them back to Kickstarter in an effort to take the next step in this rock & roll journey - a brand new full length album featuring 10 new songs from Motion Device.
The band is excited beyond words about the new material they’re writing and their first experience with Kickstarter was such a positive one they knew there was only one way to get this done. Crowd-funding is the perfect platform for a band that wants to make it in the music business on their own terms. Most importantly, we love the fact that the benefits from a project like this remain with the artist and their fans.
Motion Device is calling on all rock fans to back this project and help them show the world once and for all, that rock music is far from dead… it’s actually gonna be BIGGER THAN EVER!!
About the Band
Motion Device is lead by a very young and talented, female rocker named Sara, who happened to turn 13 years old on the day this campaign was launched. Also in the band is Sara’s 15 year old brother David on drums, their 17 year old sister Andrea on 6-string bass and keyboards, and their cousin Josh and good friend Alex on guitars. They’ve been performing together for over 4 years now and practice religiously every Tuesday and on weekends.
The band’s debut EP ‘Welcome to the Rock Revolution’ became available on iTunes on June 6, 2014 as a result of their first Kickstarter campaign: https://itunes.apple.com/us/album/welcome-to-rock-revolution/id885121824
Along with their debut release the band also premiered rock videos on Youtube for ‘Drama Queen’ and ‘A Piece of Rock & Roll’.
Through social media, Motion Device’s fan base more than tripled in 2014. Their Youtube channel is approaching 6 million views and 33,000 subscribers along with more than 13,000 fans on Facebook.
The young band first made it’s name by covering a ton of classic rock and metal bands on Youtube. With covers of famous songs by Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, Rush, and many more, Motion Device became one of the most popular cover bands on Youtube and they still are to this day. Their most popular video, a cover of Black Sabbath's 'Heaven and Hell', has reached over 1.5 million views and is easily the most popular Black Sabbath cover on Youtube.

The band also recently released a cover of Metallica's 'King Nothing: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lLN8KwYtNqE and a classic cover from the 60's - Jefferson Airplane's 'White Rabbit': https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8C0gM-ShcbA
The band actually rewarded some of their Kickstarter backers with covers of their choice in last year’s campaign. The backers chose Judas Priest’s ‘You’ve Got Another Thing Comin’: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DfXEQmb_XYs and Dio’s ‘The Last in Line’: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lGJVuzfJe3I and as promised, Motion Device came through, with both videos getting featured on high profile rock and metal news websites. Youtube cover rewards are once again available in this year's campaign.
Currently the band’s Youtube channel averages over 10,000 views per day with the number of subscribers growing on a daily basis.
New Songs & New CD
Motion Device knows a real rock band doesn’t earn real respect until they write their own original material. After the success of their debut EP the band is now ready for a much bigger task - a full length album with at least 10 new original songs.
Currently the band has over 15 songs in the works and they are quickly narrowing their list down to the ones that will make it on their new album. The band has also narrowed down it’s choices for an album name but are waiting for the final songs to be chosen before they make that decision.

For those of you who are familiar with the band’s current material you have an idea of the direction Motion Device is taking their unique brand of rock & roll. The band feels it’s so important to write material that has an effect on people emotionally and spiritually. After all, that's what the band's name is all about - moving people on the inside... a Motion Device. At the same time they want to write music that takes the listener on a journey with many twists and turns. From slow and soft melodies, to fast and heavy riffs, accompanied with deep and meaningful lyrics, the band thinks this album is going to be ground-breaking.
Recording, Mixing & Mastering
The band truly had an amazing time recording their debut EP in 2014 and they can’t wait to do it all over again. This time they would be recording at least double the amount of music but they really feel they’ll be ready and prepared for the work that’s coming their way.
The band members picked up a lot of experience from their first recording sessions. Having gone through the process will be a real advantage to all of them. Motion Device is looking to improve on it’s previous release and the band is confident that this upcoming album will be something very special.
A large portion of the pledges for this project will go to the recording, mixing and mastering of the new album with the rest of the funds going towards the manufacturing of a variety of rewards for our backers.

What if we reach our goal?
First of all, that would be AMAZING!! To get our second Kickstarter campaign successfully funded would be something that plays a huge role in the future of this rock band.
If we happen to reach our goal in a short period of time, we have something really special planned. So special, that it would go down as one of the most unique things a band has done in the history of crowd-funding.
Will we get that chance? Only time will tell...
Rock is DEAD??
Who would say such a thing? Actually quite a few people. There’s a ton of so called experts out there, many of them being older musicians, that claim rock music is dead and gone and the music industry is nothing like it used to be. Well to us, the second part of that statement is true. The music industry has changed drastically over the past few years, and most of those changes don’t help a band like us very much. The fact that the industry seems to be bent on completely eliminating the rock and metal genres altogether doesn’t help either.
However, that doesn’t mean we’re just going to sit and do nothing about it - that’s NOT what rock & roll is about. One thing that has changed things for the better is Kickstarter. Crowd-funding campaigns like this one give rock bands like Motion Device and their fans a chance to do something that would be unheard of years ago - raise their own money, without the help of a record label, release their own music and make it available to everyone in the world.
Motion Device is a rock band and rock bands MAKE MUSIC. As far as we’re concerned that music belongs to us and our fans - and that’s the way we like it.
LONG LIVE ROCK & ROLL
Risks and challenges
Given that Motion Device has already completed a successful Kickstarter campaign, it’s hard to believe there would be any real risks and challenges when it comes to this second project. The biggest difference this time around is we have double the work to do when we get into the studio. But the band is well aware of what it takes to get the job done and not only are they really excited about doing it again - they promise to do it even better than before. A rock & roll band will always have obstacles to overcome, especially in today’s music industry, but trust us when we say... the best is yet to come.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
