About this project
I grew up reading Edgar Allan Poe and Emily Dickinson and was always intrigued by their work as well as their life stories. At the same time I also grew up listening to Tupac, Biggie, and Eminem and have always been captured by the lyrics of rap music. Life experiences and emotional angst expressed through rhyme: that is the essence of poetry, that is the essence of rap, that is the core of my project Death of a Lyricist:
I am the enemy,
I will be until the end of me.
My mind is an illness,
With no willingness to be at peace,
Only killing it will it be appeased.
The title of my project is adapted from the play by Arthur Miller "Death of a Salesman" which details the unfortunate circumstances of a man who failed to reach the American Dream. I hope that my project will be successful and I plan to release multiple volumes as a series (perhaps collaborate with an illustrator as well). Please help me start the first book in the series. It will contain 100 raw heartfelt poems that touch upon many different life emotions and subjects. I will use some of the money to design and create an ebook to be sold in all available ebook store venues (iBooks, Amazon). Part of the money will also go towards creating a corresponding website (http://www.deathofalyricist.com) for the project. I hope that eventually I can also publish printed copies as well. I just heard about Kickstarter and I am really just trying to use it as an outlet to get the word out beyond friends and get this project started here, hopefully have the word be spread virally across the world! I am allowed to dream :). Thanks for reading!
While I may not be winning,
The wheels will still continue spinning.
All I can do is keep grinning,
Start fresh from the beginning.
