Welcome to HOG WASHED: a small fable about a big change!
In the tradition of C.S. Lewis, Andy Andrews (The Traveler's Gift), and classics like The Pilgrim's Progress and Hinds' Feet on High Places, HOG WASHED is an allegory that powerfully illustrates what it means to be sons and daughters of God.
HOG WASHED is written in two parts: in part one, we meet Reggie, an ordinary pig who dreams of something more. He sees the wonderful life that the dog has in the Farmer's house, and knows that there must be more for him than the pigpen. But what is the secret to getting invited into the house? Is it being dog-like? Is it getting clean and staying clean? Reggie is so enamored with the love he observes, that he is willing to be a part of that family in the house at all costs.
Part two is the teaching section of the book, where we discover the basic truths of living with the heart of a son or daughter of God, versus having the heart of an orphan. This part of the book helps us to understand clearly what has happened to Reggie, and consequently, what has happened to us as people who receive the grace of God through faith in Jesus.
The orphan mentality of many Christians causes them to struggle with questions such as:
· How can I get God to meet my needs?
· What is the magic formula for prayer that makes God act?
· Which Scriptures can I quote to ensure that I get the blessings God promises me?
· What must I do to experience the benefits of being a child of God?
The one who understands the reality of sonship never has to ask such questions. He knows that as a child of God, he is already living in the house, and his place at the table is assured.
HOG WASHED will give you a beautiful illustration of the love of God that you will never forget. You will, for years to come, find yourself using this simple, yet profound story of a pig named Reggie to help everyone around you know what it means to be part of the family of God.
