Woolmancy is a full-length, YA quest story. Its creation began as a look into the internal struggle of perfectionism, something I've struggled with since my youth. However as I wrote, edited, lived… It became a tale about two best friends and the dynamics of trusting others to share in your burdens.
At its heart, Woolmancy is about trusting in those who care about you, and realizing that you don’t have to do everything alone. And lightning sheep. And tea.
Together we made this project possible! I have no words to describe my immense gratitude for everyone pitching in to get this book printed. Looks like the world needs more books about friendship and adventure, ay? There are more to come!

I am Abrian Curington, an illustrator specializing in light-hearted fantasy stories that champion fun, adventure, and conquering the obstacles of life. After graduating with a BA in Fine Art from WWU, I started Blue Cat Co., an independent publishing company dedicated to producing fantastical works that give people an escape from the din of the world. Through Blue Cat Co., I successfully launched the short graphic novel Bellmage last year.
Aside from my work with Blue Cat Co., I am a tai chi instructor, I play an active role as a moderator for the Oatley Academy of Visual Storytelling, and I often go on real-life journeys in nature reserves.
Beta readers and past customers all say Woolmancy is an exciting new addition to the Blue Cat Co. collection! Here are some of their thoughts:
"That's a pretty deep story. Like soul-level deep."
"You’ve got something really special here."
"Abrian's stories are a lovely mix of solid storytelling, fresh worldbuilding, and charming humor, and Woolmancy is no exception."
"You had me at LIGHTNING SHEEP"
I created Woolmancy because, like all of my projects, I want to release stories that let people escape the din of the world and that are engaging for adults, yet safe for little eyes. To show a capable main character who chooses to rely on others. To show true friendship, without turning to romance. To champion the weaving community and reference magic as part of the excitement of being alive in this world!
I use Kickstarter to run pre-orders because my readership spans across a wide variety of people with a variety of backgrounds: Weavers, kids, seniors, comic artists, writers, nerds, mathematicians... The list goes on. So I gather everyone up in order to bring a project to life together, as a community.
As usual, this graphic novel is 100% drawn, lettered and laid out. The printer has been selected and contacted. Therefore, the funds for this project will go toward printing the book, as everything else has already been completed, then shipping it out to you (with a bit of wiggle room for fees and unexpected charges).
Any extra funds will go toward future printings and reprints, but I have some fun goodies in store for you in this campaign as well! More on that as the campaign progresses.

Here's what you get for pledging:
Here's the timeline we're looking at:
Because of the printer turn-around, I am making no promises for Christmas! However, if you live local to me, send me a message and I might be able to arrange a pick-up station to avoid the long ship out period!
Thank you for coming along on this journey with me, even if it was just the length of this Kickstarter page. If you're ready to continue this adventure, scroll on up and pick a pledge level that gets you the most jazzed!
Risks and challenges
I have everything ready to rock and roll with the files, and I am working with a respected printer, KrakenPrint. I have not worked with them in the past, but they have produced books for hundreds of creators, and I have set a very wide print timeline, just in case.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
