MagC brings back MagSafe and makes it compatible with USB-C and Thunderbolt 3. 1 magical hub combines 3 cutting-edge technologies.
MagC can be used on MacBook, PC and smartphones, as long as they use USB-C.
Functionality and aesthetics are equally important to us. Therefore, we designed MagC to match your MacBook beautifully.
Since 2006, MagSafe, a magnetic power connector, has protected numerous MacBooks from flying off the table and suffering from terminal damage. Connecting the cable was as easy as a snap. Gently tug it - it breaks off cleanly.
However, in 2016, MagSafe was removed from all new products, replaced by USB-C, the new industrial standard. We decided that we need to bring back MagSafe, we need to bring back one of the most enduring designs of Steve Jobs. So, we work relentlessly to design MagC.
In order to support data transfer, video output and charging with LED indicator while minimising its size, we make use of a 0.8mm thick 4 layered PCB board. We also insist to include all 24 pins to support all USB-C terminal to ensure MagC fully utilize USB-C. In such a small hub, each pogo pin is only 0.3mm apart.

EMI test (Electromagnetic Interference Testing)
EMI Test an immunity and susceptibility test well-approved and specifically adopted by the European Union. After undergoing tests concerning electrostatic discharge, Bulk Current Injection and Radiated Electromagnetic Field, the test will make sure that MagC performs perfectly and safely when subjected to electromagnetic environment, thus avoiding safety hazards like overcharging or damaging your devices.
RoHS (Restriction of Hazardous Substances)
ROHS restricts the use of specific hazardous materials in MagC, further easing backers’ concern about MagC’s safety
CE is a general certification proving that MagC meets the requirements of the applicable CE directives
FCC helps certify that MagC’s electromagnetic interference is under safety limits so as to minimize the risk of damaging your electronic devices!

1. Plating thickness test
This test is a measuring instrument for the non-destructive investigation of a material's plating thickness using a special kind of waves which are used in all casings.
2. Salt spray test
This test is a standardised and popular corrosion test which is used to check corrosion resistance of materials and surface coatings by simulating a high humidity environment.
3. RoHS test (restriction of Hazardous Substances Test)
RoHS is often referred to as the "lead-free directive", but it restricts the use of the following ten substances :
Lead(Pb), Mercury(Hg), Cadmium(Cd), Hexavalent Chromium (Cr6+), Polybrominated biphenyis(PBB), Polybrominated do phenyl ether (PBDE), Bis (2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP), Butyl benzoyl phthalate (BBP), Dibutyl phthalate (DBP), Diisobutyl phthalate (DIBP).
The enforcement of RoHS is legally required in European Union member states.
4. Mating cycle test
This test is to evaluate whether the specimen can withstand repeated connection and disconnection while still retaining maximum resistance and pull force (for instance, tension).
5.Open and short test
It is the most common validation test in all electronic products and accessories. It includes structural tests. The structural tests are to evaluate whether the chip has been built.
6. Circuit test
It is used to connect the PCBA to test functions. It will test whether MagC can charge connected device, and whether it can transmit and receive files.
7. Insulation test
This test is also called high resistance test. It is used to ensure the insulation part of MagC device is completely isolated with the electronic part (i.e. PCBA). It is combined with a short-circuit test and high voltage test.
8. Data transfer simulation test
This test is to evaluate the speed/efficiency of data transfer. It is used to make sure the ideal data transfer rate can be achieved by all products from the production line.
When we can't deliver MagC on-time (i.e. on or before 31 Dec 2017), we will provide the following refund policy for your consideration.
Compensation packages :
If MagC fails to deliver the products to our backers on or before 31 Dec 2017,
(1) a formal letter will be sent to each backer by email in January 2018 to detail the most updated situation regarding the production of MagC:
(a) which production process is MagC currently in;
(b) the reason for our delayed delivery; or obstacle we encounter;
(c) when will be our estimated earliest delivery in face of the current situation;
(2) Our compensation scheme will be attached with the above-mentioned formal customer letter.
Options include :
(i) a souvenir as a gift to express our sincere apology if the backer/recipient is willing to accept the new time frame. (The gift will be of value from US$10) More details will be announced in sequent updates, OR
(ii) Opting out of our backers’ list. The backer will then understand that some of the pledged dollars are injected into R&D and manufacturing and will accept a partial refund which is equivalent to 20-50% of the Kickstarter price (US$29 per set). It will be refunded to the recipient through online payment once the acceptance form is signed and returned to CS Team, MagC. Please note that the partial refund is 20-50% of the total Kickstarter price (equal to our marketing cost and profit margin).
Remarks : In the case of delayed delivery, to better protect our mutual benefits, each backer will be asked to indicate his preference, either (i) to accept the new time frame and receive a gift together with the final product; or (ii) to accept a partial refund as a settlement by signing the offer letter and submitting it via email.
Once all replies are received, our MagC CS team will respect each backer's decision and follow through until our products, souvenirs and refunds are delivered respectively.
We created MagC because we believe in something and we were disillusioned. We believe in the humanistic design that Steve Jobs pioneered. We believe in his commitment for something that is simple but powerful. We believe in his seamless combination of aesthetics and functionality. What separate us from others is that we are doing this with a belief. With MagC, we wish to remind the public what we used to believe in and what we should believe it. Sometimes what we really long for is not shorter short cuts, a realer reality, or a smarter robot. Sometimes what we want is a simple, beautiful design that gives our touch more comfort and ease. Yes, we are in this for a cause. But beyond lofty ideals, how will we deliver our promise? We are as concerned about delivering our promises as you.
First, our inventor, currently working at Microsoft, has 15 years of experience in the tech field. What carried him so far is his unyielding attitude towards every single detail. Without that quality, we wouldn’t have been able to squeeze 24 pins in such a tiny cube.
Secondly, we teamed up with reputable companies for manufacturing, R&D and project management. This is our first CrowdFunding campaign, but definitely not their first. You can read more about our team at the bottom of the page.
Risks and challenges
Manufacturing Assembly design is one of the challenges in this Kickstarter project. Reducing cost for each unit is one of the areas that we are working on. while we have settled on the current size of MagC, we are still searching for other ways to make it smaller.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
