Question: What’s in a name?
Q: Let me rephrase, what is your name?
A: The Chameleon Fools Theatre Troupe!
Q: Why Chameleon?
A: In nature, the chameleon manifests in many different types of species, with various sizes and physical features. The attribute that inspires us the most is the ability by some to change the color of their bodies. This skill is used to convey emotion, blend into their surroundings, or to regulate body temperature. This strongly reminds us of the theatre. Like chameleons, theatre presents itself in all shapes and sizes. We want to be a species of theatre that can adapt from one project to the next; changing colors to immerse ourselves in every viewpoint of the story. We want to create our own stories, and also tell stories you already know, but with our own twist on it.
Q: Why Fools?
A: Besides the fact that we are self-proclaimed fools, we are drawn to them. With their funny antics and sometimes tragic blunders, fools help us escape reality if even for a moment. They remind us that we are human and can make mistakes.
Q: So why a Kickstarter?
A: We need your help! We have a name, a logo, a website, and big ideas. Now we need to complete all of that boring paperwork nonsense to legalize our nonprofit and “all that jazz” (see what we did there?). We need help getting the funds together to begin laying the ground work for our future as a theatre troupe. We have ideas for projects, including a newly-devised Commedia Dell'Arte piece, an original dance exhibition, world-premiers of 2 new plays, and even a night of torch songs!
With a possible venue already lined up, funds are vital to secure it along with performance rights. If we reach our goal, any additional donations will go towards producing the next production and advertising costs. With these investments, we also can form the structure for educational programs for youth of all ages and backgrounds. Our Education Outreach Director is in the process of designing workshops to introduce theatre to young artists, including a differentiated experience for special education students. Cultivating a love for the arts is very important to us. Please help us to inspire and foster this love in others, as so many have done for us in the past.

Risks and challenges
Our most pressing risk is the possible loss of our venue that we have reserved for our current projects. If we lose this particular venue, we would have to start our search for another location, and space is always limited in New York. The funds needed to secure our current venue would remain intact should we need to find another venue.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
