HOW WE GOT HERE
Capitalism and Other Stories is a serendipitous comic project of passion and pride. My graphic designer friend Joel Ferris approached me in early September to do a short project, so I revamped an old story, “Capitalism,” about a pain-sucking being called a syphon who was raised by a syphon-trafficker and became an assassin.
Then, in October my writer friend Don Pankievicz asked me if I would get the Destiny’s Fate crew together to raise money for Toys for Tots, and the end result was “Punking Santa,” a short story for It’s Like That Studios’ Twisted Christmas anthology.
From there, I reconnected with Shannon Fowler, a graphic designing friend, for “Dragon Slobber,” and with the addition of “To Ride a Cloud” and artist Sarah "Neila" Elkins, the anthology took on a life of its own.
THE WORLD IN WHICH WE LIVE AND THE WORLDS IN WHICH WE DREAM

With artwork and colors by Joel Ferris, production by Mike Stock, and editing by Ellery Prime, this twelve-page story will make you question the highly-valued economic system.

Sarah "Neila" Elkins is a freelance artist and writer who has been working in comics since 2008. She started work as an colorist assistant and now pencils, inks and colors. She has worked on Womanthology: Heroic and Womanthology: Space and self-published "Sharkpony and the Glitter Riders" through a online fundraiser. She currently draws the webcomic "Here There Be Monsters," a tie in to "Charby the Vampirate," as well as continues to work as a colorist assistant flatting pages. A workaholic fueled by coffee and rice, Neila often loses track of what day it is and how much time has passed.
Rodrigo Tobias Eyzaguirre has been a comic book store clerk, a production assistant, and a professional illustrator, the last for ten years. His focus is publicity work doing storyboards, commercial illustrations, and character designs. He also publishes illustrations in Mexican magazines such as Big Bang and Discovery Kids of Editorial Televisa. His own studio, Graphic Leak (www.graphicleak.com.mx), launched last June and offers commercial illustration and animation, including comics. He is also the colorist for Destiny’s Fate.
Joel Ferris is an illustrator and graphic artist from the suburbs of Philadelphia. LETTERS AND PRODUCTION
Mike Stock has worked as a graphic designer since graduating the Arts University College Bournemouth, but he started lettering in 2011. He currently acts as a Digital Editor for the Dead Roots (http://www.deadroots.co.uk/) anthology and VS Comics (www.vscomics.co.uk). His lettering credits include multiple stories for Dead Roots and VS Comics, as well as Jon Lock's Afterlife Inc. and several short stories for Starburst Magazine. Erin Meier is an avid reader and grammar nerd who has been editing for Devin since 2008. After studying chemistry and biology, she pursued a graduate degree in biosecurity and disaster preparedness, showing what happens when you let a five year old watch Bill Nye and MacGyver. When not reading whatever she can get her hands on, Erin works for a state emergency management agency, working with locals to improve community preparedness and resilience. She currently resides in Tennessee. Social Media: @ErinMeier
Ellery Prime began writing long before the Internet was around to appreciate it, but eventually technology caught up, and her love affair with fandom began. These days, her personal muse and taskmaster, Darth, bullies her into getting the voices out of her mind and onto the computer screen, otherwise she misses turns when she’s driving because she can’t stop telling herself stories in her head. Her philosophy for life and literature is that everything is better with a little bit of edge, a hint of the uncanny, and a dash of humor. She is the creator and writer of Gauntlet, a serial for Chromatic Press. Social Media: @eprimex; eprime.tumblr.com; Gauntlet
Risks and challenges
With every group project, there are risk and challenges; however, Capitalism and Other Stories has very few. The creators with whom I work are professionals. Mau is a corporate storyboard artist, and Rodrigo own his own production company. Mike works for VS Comics in Britain. Joel was a graphic designer for a major corporation before going freelance. Shannon graduated from college with a degree in drawing and graphic design, and Sarah is a comic veteran whose work has been in such anthologies as Womanthology and Womanthology: Space.
Furthermore, “Punking Santa,” “And Another Thing, ” and “Dragon Slobber” are completed. “Capitalism” and “Riding the Clouds” have already begun production, and “Ravenous” will once the Kickstarter is complete. With your help, the stories will be finished and the book printed.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
