About this project
Together 436 backers raised $224,087. We are in the 1% of Kickstarter projects that raised over $100,000. We funded 45% of our goal. We were in the Most Popular Film and Video category the whole time. You did that. You believed in this project and you made it happen. Tani Cohen (Producer) and I are so grateful to all of you. We consider this campaign a success. We now have great media and marketing materials to continue the process of bringing this film to fruition.
We have an extraordinary group of committed actors who signed on because they believed in this too. We will make this movie. We would like to acknowledge the following people for their generous contribution to our Kickstarter campaign:
Timothy Snell - Editor Peyton Skelton - Cinematographer
James McVay - Additional Music Ronald Eng - Sound Mixer
Sydney Steinberg - PA and Pledge Button Erin Dittman - Publicity
Lauren Halperin and Robert Hestand and Lexie Galante
Thank you again from the bottom of our hearts.
Below is the playlist of all our videos. Enjoy.
Doris! Is that you?
Many of you remember me as Doris Schwartz, a character from the 1980s TV show Fame.
I got my first shot at directing on Fame, and I've been acting, writing and directing ever since. I have a new film project and that's what brings me here to Kickstarter. (You can read more about what I've been up to in the bio section)
It's been incredible to watch Kickstarter develop as a funding source for creative newcomers. And we're all thrilled to see both young filmmakers get their projects funded as well as successful Indie projects by established stars like Kristin Bell and Spike Lee.
My film project is called Offer & Compromise and it falls right in the middle, with a moderate $500,000 budget, an experienced producer in Tani Cohen, a talented editor in Timothy Snell and seasoned casting director Shana Landsburg. And the actors! We've got Tom Cavanagh (The Flash, Ed, How to Eat Fried Worms), Constance Zimmer (House of Cards, Entourage) and Frances Fisher (Resurrection, Titanic). This will also be the film debut for musician and American Idol finalist Casey Abrams.
Offer & Compromise is a collaboration with writer Dylan Otto, and it tells the story of the fictional Warner family and Travis Parker, the 19-year-old debt collector who enters their lives as they struggle to break free of debts, both financial and emotional.
It's a comedy/drama, in the vein of The Descendants, Little Miss Sunshine and Juno. It's funny and heartbreaking and timely. All of the actors signed on as soon as they read the script. Dylan's script is that good!
Independent films have a tough time getting financed in the traditional Hollywood system, so we're excited to bring Offer & Compromise to Kickstarter.
We're so grateful to be here and we'll be incredibly thankful, long after this campaign ends, to have your support.
See that plaque from an original episode of Fame? It's going to one lucky backer.
What's Offer & Compromise All About?
Henry Warner has a wife who wants someone else's life, a teenage daughter who wants her own apartment, an 8-year-old daughter who wants to be David Beckham, a mother-in-law who hates him and a five-year-old son who has yet to speak.
Henry and his family make an unlikely connection with Travis Parker, whose first job is working with the collection agency's colorful staff of lifers. Ultimately, Travis and the Warner family's fates are tied together as they both struggle to break free of debts, both financial and emotional.
This is My Dream Cast!
I've had the opportunity in my career to work with hugely talented actors. This film is a chance to bring actors I absolutely adore together on one film project. Can you believe the depth of this roster?

So What Happens After You're Funded?
We can shoot Offer & Compromise in Los Angeles this spring in 20 days, complete production, and have a cut for $500,000. That's a really tight budget for a feature film with a cast this size, so everything we raise beyond our goal will let us give more time to shoot.
We have great rewards for our backers, everything from golf with Shooter McGavin to a chance to own my original platinum record. Constance, who's also a talented photographer, will create an unforgettable photo album from the shoot, and French will have lunch with you on the Warner Brothers lot.
Everyone who pledges gets access to our exclusive production blog and a 48-hour preview download of the completed film.
So please pledge. Be a part of our film project.
Thank you! We're all so grateful for your support.
P.S. Check out some of the great rewards, including my original platinum record for Hi-Fidelity!
We would like to acknowledge the following for their generous contribution to our kickstarter video:
Timothy Snell, Editor - Peyton Skelton, Cinematographer - Sydney Steinberg, Awesome PA and pledge button - Ronald Eng, Sound Mixer - James McVay, Additional Music - Lauren Halperin and Rob Hestand many things.
Risks and challenges
As with any film production, we're at the mercy of weather and other unexpected delays. We've created a budget that will realistically allow us to take the film to the rough cut. We've also set Spring of 2015 as our targeted release date, which gives us some extra breathing room for production. All of us on this project have solid credentials and reputations for bringing projects in on time and within budget, so we are confident in our ability to do the same with Offer & Compromise. Of course, all of our backers will get the production blog, with real time updates, photographs and videos so you'll know exactly where we are in the process.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
