About this project
While the Kickstarter may not have went as planned, we are still working on making Weamon: Weather Monsters. The timeline will no doubt be extended, and we now face funding issues in regards to sound effects for interface and more notably the 100 or so unique attacks in the game.
From here on without the funding we anticipated, it will no doubt be a slower and rockier path to completion. However, we still have faith that Weamon can and will be an awesome and unique game. Weamon is an iOS game centered around the concept of becoming a monster trainer in real life. You and your Weamon are able to interact with others' monsters nearby and combat is affected by the current weather conditions in your area.
At the same time, Weamon functions as a light-weight weather application, showing you the current condition, temperature, windspeed, humidity, and time of day.
You will be able to control and fight with a variety of Weamon, all of which directly relate to one or more weather conditions. When fighting in their own related conditions, Weamon experience a boost to their power.
The game will launch with AT LEAST 52 monsters across 13 monster families.
Monsters are summoned with Crests, which you will need to unlock and get in order to summon the Weamon. Some of which only appear during special weather conditions, such as a blizzard or thunderstorm.
Each monster also grows over time as it gains experience—transforming from a cute child stage into a force of nature. Travel the world and collect all the monsters as you expose yourself to the elements.
Weamon is based on location, so you’ll be able to fight monsters from people around you to gain experience. Furthermore, you’ll be able to battle against the Miasma monsters who are slowly taking over the world. Each city with players will be under constant attack, and the Miasma will take over unless they are dealt with. With your help, the world will be rid of the polluting Miasma threat.
All digital rewards will be distributed to backers' accounts upon the game launch to the iOS App Store, emailed, or given as downloads from our servers. The cost of downloading the game will be FREE for a limited time, in which we encourage our backers to download it. Physical goods (posters), will be printed immediately after game launch (which we need to make priority), and shipped soon there-after.
The starter pack includes 3 'Talisman' type items to help you get started. These items equip to one of your Weamon, giving them either more experience from fights, more gold, or a combination. While they expire after so many fights, these are some of the best ones in the game, and will definitely give you a boost.
Koori is the name for a species of Weamon that controls Hail, Sleet, and Slush. It is powerful, and made even more devastating if fighting in any of those conditions. In-game, it is as rare as encountering those weather conditions in relation to where you live. Additionally, it has a high cost in Coins, meaning that normally you will not have access to it until later in game. However, through our Kickstarter, you can get its crest right from the start.
The Maekan Crest summons the most powerful of Weamon. Referred to as the Masters of Volcanos, they derive boosts in power, from smoke, heat, and dry climates. However, even when they are not boosted, the Maekan are immensely powerful. They are also a Kickstarter exclusive monster, available only through this campaign. Learn more about Maekan.

The soundtrack for Weamon will include at a minimum, the theme song, shop background music, and 8 additional tracks for Weather Conditions. In game, this will create an atmosphere specific to each condition.The soundtrack will be delivered to backers digitally.
This is the perfect pack if you are looking to start the game with a specific Weamon in mind! You get all the previous prizes, including the posters and the mighty Maekan! PLUS choose up to 4 Weamon from those revealed before game launch and we will add them to your file!
At this tier, you get everything from the previous, PLUS your account will include one of each playable WEAMON available when the game launched! Also, you will be off to a great start in training them, as you will also get one of each item available in the game!
At the highest reward tiers, we will work with you to create custom monsters for the game. These are ALWAYS attributed to the backer with an image of the monster/crest next to their name in the credits. Depending on the pledge level as well, these may be one-of-a-kind monsters exclusive only to the backer.
While you will be able to choose up to 4 weather conditions for this monster (from the data available to our application), and provide us with feedback throughout its creation, the final design must still be consistent with the rest of the game. We want you to be happy with and proud of your exclusive monster.
Being illustrated into the game as the shop keeper is limited to a single person. In addition to getting your own Exclusive Custom Monster, we will work with you to create an illustration of you that matches the in-game aesthetic. Additionally, as long as they are appropriate (thematically, and language wise), you will be able to create a few lines of dialogue for the shopkeeper, in order to better convey your personal touch.
For this reward tier, we will also mail you a print of the shopkeeper illustration, signed by the entire Weamon team.
The team for Weamon is headed by Index Interactive, a NYC-based Interaction Design Studio. The Project Lead and Developer is William Anderson, Lead Developer and Co-Owner of Index Interactive, User Interface and Graphic Design Lead is Andrés Iga, Lead Designer and Co-Owner of Index Interactive.

While we have been able to take the project quite far without outside funding, we are reaching our limit. Taking on team members with unique skills such as Game Design, Animation, and Content Planning, as well as producing Music costs a great deal of money. We need your help to curb these costs.
In the event of over-funding, we will put the money towards adding content to the game, as well as hopefully speeding up production times. We are excited about Weamon, but need your help to make it happen.
Weamon is a mobile game, so you can take it with you and play it anytime (providing you have internet and GPS access). Travel the real world to either encounter as many weather conditions as you can, allowing you to unlock more monsters, or to help other cities battle against the Miasma. We have access to worldwide weather data, ensuring that EVERYONE can play!
When it debuts, Weamon will be released as an iPhone app that will run on iOS5+. Weamon is optimized for retina screens, and accommodates both the screen sizes of older iPhone/iPod Touches, and the new iPhone 5 displays.
Risks and challenges
While our design and development team, illustrators, game designers, and musicians are all talented and experienced, this is a massive project for a team of our size. Our greatest challenge is sticking to schedule, but we are confident that this will be an amazing game and change the way we perceive the genre of Monster Training RPGs. We would LOVE to release Weamon on as many mobile operating systems as possible. Not just Android, but Windows as well. However, our current team does not include developers for platforms other than iOS, and doing so would greatly increase cost. In the event that we are significantly over-funded, we may develop a version for Android. We however cannot make any guarantees as it is outside the scope of this Kickstarter campaign.
If you have an Android device, or are planning on getting an iPhone AFTER launch, dont worry about claiming your prizes. They will still be tied into your accounts and ready for you to use when the time comes.
