A lonely film projectionist, running from his inner demons, gets a lesson in positivity from a blind movie patron.

THE STORY

The Projectionist is the story of 75 year old Sid Newman, a lonely film projectionist trying to find Elysium. Elysium is the Greek conception of Nirvana/the afterlife, but to Sid it means finding peace of mind, away from the inner demons of his past that haunt him every day.

When he meets a strange young girl who infiltrates his movie world, Sid begins to look at life from a different perspective as she teaches him how to feel again.

The Projectionist is a story about feeling, a sensation that many people try to numb through drugs and alcohol. Some people just don’t know how to. The story is a promise that something as universal as movies, can help us feel again.

It’s a story about rituals and how they define us as human beings. It’s a story about positivity and appreciating the little things in life. We all make a lot of mistakes and they may haunt is forever, but with this film I hope to remind us all that we are simply human and embracing our humanity is the best feeling of them all.

The film features original music by local Miami folk singer, Raffa Harris, who delivers Sid's haunting theme song.

THE PLAN:

The film is said and done, but film festival submissions are expensive. We need $2,000 to cover postage, submission fees and press kits, along with any necessary travel to film festivals, if we have the privilege of being selected. We plan to submit to a long list of festivals, local and national and can really use your help.
