About this project
Mogadishu 1993 – Operation Gothic Serpent.
On October 3rd and 4th 1993 a task force of US Rangers and elements of Delta Force were locked into a battle that was set to go down in history, first in the book "Black Hawk Down" and then in the film of the same name.
Here at Radio Dishdash Publishing we have long been fans both of the book and the film and feel it’s the next step for our game Skirmish Sangin to enable our players to be able to re-enact this famous battle.
Skirmish Sangin, is a narrative skirmish wargame that has proven very popular and has helped shape the modern wargames genre. Skirmish Sangin has always positively reviewed, here is an example...
Paul Burkin of Wargames, Soldiers & Strategy wrote…
“I have to say I really enjoyed playing Skirmish Sangin. The designers have done a good job of making a real life combat almost come to life on the table top…If you want to play a modern skirmish game its worth picking up a copy.”
Wargames, Soldiers & Strategy Issue 65
Over the last six months we have been working hard to add Maalintii Rangers, our first Battle Book Supplement to our current line of products. The book has now been written, designed, produced and launched recently at Historicon.
We have also designed our initial line of US Rangers and DELTA. This range of figures can be used for US operations from the early 90’s through the early years of Afghanistan and Iraq. So this line will give the gamer a great deal of flexibility over approximately 15 years of U.S. historical and "What-If" based scenarios.
As you can see we have made a pretty good start to things but we see this as just that, a start. Our aim now is to hopefully fund this Kickstarter to grow this line of miniatures. The turntables below show you what we have designed and now have in production. We currently have the first eight 28mm Scaled U.S. Rangers and our first four 28mm scale Delta Force miniatures cast in metal and for sale. What we now want to do is grow this range. You can see renders of the Rangers below and actual figures created from these renders after that.
Our plan is to increase the range of figures we offer, expanding the range to include more Rangers and DELTA, and of course the Somalis to oppose them. As you can see below these 3D renders translate well into cast figures.
We believe we have created some of the best US Rangers on the market today. At Historicon we were told on a number occasions by figure producers and sculptors that we are creating the best miniatures currently available, so anyone who pledges need not be worried about our abilities to deliver quality product.
We are not asking you to fund our book, or the initial figures that are now on sale but to help us create an extensive figure range that will support our range of books and the Skirmish Sangin Rule system.
So what if I haven’t got Skirmish Sangin?
If you look at the pledges we do provide you Skirmish Sangin as a PDF and printed copies of Skirmish Sangin and Despatches No.1 and Despatches No.2 can be added (See the Add on section below)
What about Terrain?
We have also got that covered as we have teamed up with The Phalanx Consortium to bring you some really cool buildings that will help you build your Mogadishu streets.
We are currently developing our HUMVEE model specifically for this Kickstarter and we hope to have a render for you soon.
We are also looking at adding additional vehicles and other accessories with your support in unlocking those ever so exciting Stretch Goals.

It means that a qualifying Pledger has access to choose any of the stretch goal miniatures packs that are unlocked as a part of the overall campaign. They can also choose to add other miniature packs as paid for add-ons once the Kickstarter has completed. This is not a new thing on Kickstarter, and it was how we were advised to word the Kickstarter.
Risks and challenges
Radio Dishdash Publishing Ltd. has already created four books in the Skirmish Sangin Range and two ranges of miniatures consisting of 40+ model in total. So we have a great deal of experience in terms of digital rendering and hot metal production.
We also have experience in distributing our products on a worldwide basis, we are based currently in New Zealand, USA and the UK, so worldwide distribution is already taken care of.
We launched the initial 12 figures at Historicon 16-19 July 2015, and we plan to add, if funded, the additional figures to the range within 3 months of the Kickstarter close date. So no endless waiting around waiting for deliveryLearn about accountability on Kickstarter
