$150,244

Introducing the Cold Brew on Tap 2.0, the perfect at-home cold brew coffee maker that lets you play barista and brew up a week’s worth of cold brew in less than a minute.
This thing is going to change your morning coffee routine in so many ways...but our personal favorite part is the spigot that serves up cold, refreshing cold brew straight from your fridge or counter!

The Cold Brew on Tap 2.0 has a ton of other awesome, updated features as well that make brewing homemade cold brew coffee a breeze.

Homemade cold brew coffee beats out canned and store-bought cold brew in both flavor and price, and the Cold Brew on Tap 2.0 makes around 10 cups of cold brew to get you through the week (or up to 20 cups if you’re using it to make concentrate).
It takes less than a minute to prep and features a….
- Rust-free airtight lid
- Adjustable spigot that makes serving fun and easy
- Custom designed fine-mesh filter
- Carrying handle
- Compact but generous 2 liter capacity (or 68 ounces)
- High-quality, BPA-free construction with unique design and ounce markings
The Cold Brew on Tap 2.0 turns making homemade cold brew into a fun, easy, mess-free, cost-effective and delicious experience! It's improved upon our ORIGINAL Cold Brew on Tap Kickstarter campaign that was successfully funded, brought to life and delivered with just over 1,000 backers.

FEATURES OF THE COLD BREW ON TAP 2.0

The Cold Brew on Tap 2.0 has a 2L capacity and lets you brew up about 10 servings of cold brew in one batch (or up to 20 cups if you’re using it to make concentrate)
It's more cost-effective, convenient - and we think delicious! - than having to rely on your favorite coffee shop or store bought cold brew for your daily fix.
At around $4 a pop, ordering cold brew out all the time can really start to add up. With the Cold Brew on Tap you can make cold brew that's brewed to YOUR taste and strength preferences with minimal effort and clean up for around $1/cup!

A BETTER WAY TO MAKE HOMEMADE COLD BREW
This is our second iteration of an idea we had last summer when we were guzzling cold brew by the gallon from our favorite local coffee shops.
It was our new favorite beverage but we were spending an arm and a leg on it and couldn’t find a good way to make it at home that:
- Wasn’t incredibly messy
- Didn’t need a bunch of equipment that took up space
- Was easy to set up
- Was convenient to store and serve in our fridge
- Could make more than 4-6 cups at a home (which let’s face it, was really just enough cold brew to get us through the morning)
So, we made up our own solution! The Cold Brew on Tap 2.0 has a ton of improved features over the original Cold Brew on Tap including a better filter, rust-free lid, carrying handle, updated design, more compact size and ounce markings.

With the Cold Brew on Tap 2.0 you can say goodbye to:
- Spending your paycheck at your local coffee shop for your daily fix
- Buying cans of bottles of cold brew that are expensive, wasteful and are filled with preservatives or sugar
- Complicated and messy at-home cold brew makers
- Cold brew makers that are too small and require you to make a new batch every few days

Using the Cold Brew on Tap 2.0 to make a week's worth of cold brew is fast and easy - it takes less than a minute to prep the whole thing. The hardest part is waiting 12-18 hours for it to steep!

THE COLD BREW ON TAP 2.0 CREATORS

We first had the idea to create our own way to make delicious homemade cold brew last summer when we were living in Boston, young, married....and spending a fortune on cold brew coffee at our favorite coffee shops. Every other solution we found was either expensive (cans and concentrate), messy (DIY mason jar method) or didn't make enough coffee (small pitcher style makers). SO, we dreamed up the Original Cold Brew on Tap which was successfully funded and brought to life on Kickstarter last year. We got great feedback on the product and thousands of people have since bought the Original Cold Brew on Tap but we saw lots of room for improvement - both in features, design and packaging.
Behold, the Cold Brew on Tap 2.0 with a ton of updated and improved features including a totally new custom designed body (smaller and more compact) and conical mesh filter (built so you can totally customize the amount of coffee you brew up). The Cold Brew on Tap 2.0 has become our new go-to for making coffee in our house and we hope you love it as much as we do!

PROTOTYPES + TESTING
This project first started about a year ago as the original Cold Brew on Tap. We had a great responses to it and a fully funded Kickstarter. Months later we realized we had some new great ideas to improve the original design so we set about creating the Cold Brew on Tap 2.0 with a slew of improved features and functionalities.
Things we changed included adding a handle, changing the size and design of the dispenser, improving the quality and sealing of the lid and updating the filter to an even more custom design.

Here's the CAD file for the FIRST filter we tried out for the the Cold Brew on Tap:

Here are additional tests between different filters and examples of multiple iterations

Here's the updated CAD file for the improved and proprietary designed conical filter we settled on:

And here's the CAD file for the proprietary 2L Glass Mason Jar we created for the Cold Brew on Tap 2.0. We added a custom design on the front, ounce marking on the back and adjusted the mouth of the jar to accommodate our custom filter while still being able to have the stainless steel lid screw on tightly.

Following are some additional prototypes and testing/experimentation we did for various components of the Cold Brew on Tap 2.0

Risks and challenges
One of the challenges with this product is designing the custom mesh filter. We wanted to filter to be one continuous piece of mesh not pieced together and jointed by plastic or metal pieces. It was a challenge figuring out how to do this and get it to fit perfectly around the mouth of the jar without keeping the lid from tightening shut. We also wanted a filter that could accommodate a small OR large amount of grounds so users can adjust how much coffee they want to make. After testing we have settled on a cone shaped continuous mesh filter made out of stainless steel.
Another challenge was the lid. The original material offered by our manufacturer was thinner and was prone to rust. We upgraded to a stainless steel material that is much thicker and rust-free. When making the lid better quality though it affected how it screwed onto the jar so the mold of the mouth of the jar had to be adjusted to fit the new lid. The adjustment of the mouth of the jar then affected the filter design which will also have to be adjusted slightly.
A challenge with this product is shipping it properly because it's made out of high-quality BPA free glass. As we have been receiving samples we have gone through about 8 different packaging iterations including adding bubble wrap, foam peanuts, styrofoam forms and increasing the thickness of the box. We think we have arrived at a good solution that will help protect the product very well when being shipped!
