Born and raised in the heartland, in Lafayette, Indiana, David Corley has been scribbling down notes, ideas, and tunes by hand for as long as he can remember, secretly creating an expansive body of work that has consumed and kept him out of the public eye for a span of decades until this very moment in time.
At the age of 53, Corley is ready to release his debut album, Available Light, a collection of original indie bluesy-rock songs that encompasses the poetic landscapes of Corley's dreams, as well as his life in rural Indiana and travels across and around the United States. David Corley's debut album Available Light is in the homestretch now and what a wild ride! He has been blessed to work with some very wonderfully talented people, and that shows in the production value of the record. He had the pleasure and privilege to work with Gregor Beresford (drums), Tony Scherr (bass, guitar), Kate Fenner (background vocals), Sarah McDermott (background vocals) and Hugh Christopher Brown (piano, hammond b-3, clavinet, wurlitzer, vocals). Brown also produced, mixed and engineered the songs, taking them to a whole new level. He states " David's music is so real and so unaffected - I know everyone who hears it will experience the same sensation we had making the album; that you are discovering something that's always existed, but new every time you observe it. I am so thrilled to play a part in bringing this album to life. Now you can too....."
So this baby needs to get off the ground. We need your help for final costs of printing, production, art, promotion, as well as playing and touring in support of the record. With a little wind behind it, and your help (whatever you can pledge), these songs that have been crafted over a lifetime will reach new ears, delight new audiences and enable David to keep making his own brand of music for many more albums to come. If you like what you hear, dig in and get in on the ground floor as well as take advantage of some of our cool rewards and of course, please help us spread the word!
Risks and challenges
The final recordings are in hand. Risks and challenges?, - man, I've already taken 'em all, and no challenge I haven't seen before. Psyched for you all to hear the record...and psyched for you to be part of it, and you will be the first to receive Available Light. But I need your help to get it out. If I happen to be in Wolfe Island, Canada, when this is all said and done, mailing might have a cool Canadian postage stamp and take a day or 2 longer. Rest assured, my team is going postal on you already and I am somewhere, with an instrument in my hand, and trying to hold on to it. Music is my world, and I know that from of a lifetime of playing it.
Thank you. Really, thanks.
