The Kids (1-4 players) must gather weapons, avoid traps, defeat the monster, and break the curse!

The Monster (1 player) will litter the town with cursed objects and use all of their power to stop those meddlesome kids...

Box Dimensions: 5.5" high x 3.9" wide x 1.6" deep

To start the game, one player volunteers to be the Monster and chooses one of three options that they keep secret for now.

Werewolf, Vampire, or Zombie. Who will you choose?

The remaining players each choose one of the Kids from Misfortune Lane.

Once characters are selected, gameplay is divided into two distinct phases: Day and Night.

The Day phase consists of 6 rounds. Each round includes the following four steps.

Step 1: Investigate (Kids)

The Kids take turns searching locations around the town.

Each location is filled with Monster Weapons that only work against specific monsters and Good Luck that hurts any of the monsters.

Press your luck to gather as many cards as possible

During a Search, draw one card from a location. Search as many times as you want but beware of encounters! If you draw an Encounter, you must shuffle all of your cards back into the location and end your turn.

Step 2: Influence (Monster)

The Monster must play exactly one card from their stash of bad luck.

Use these cards to stop the Kids from getting powerful weapons or to trick the Kids into preparing for a fight with one of the other monsters.

Defend yourself by putting cards in locations with your monster symbol. Be careful, if you are too obvious the Kids will discover your monster identity and start grabbing powerful weapons.

Step 3: Deposit (Kids)

The Kids who avoided Encounters will add their cards to the Treehouse Deck. These cards will remain safely stored until the Night phase.

Step 4: Discussion (Kids)

The Kids can vote to skip the remaining Day rounds if they feel prepared for the final fight. This vote must be unanimous otherwise the Kids repeat the Day phase.

When the Monster's stash is empty (after 6 Day rounds), the Night phase begins automatically.

The Night phase consists of 7 rounds. Each round includes the following four steps.

Step 1: Influence - Passive (Monster)

Your monster identity has been revealed! Trigger your passive power at the beginning of each round.

Each Monster has a unique ability

Step 2: Investigate (Kids)

Like the Day phase, Kids continue searching for weapons by pressing their luck. However, now you can only draw from the Treehouse location.

Although no more adults will interfere with your mission, Encounters are still a risk as the stakes rise even higher.

The Ambush card forces ALL kids to discard their cards.

Step 3: Influence - Active (Monster)

Like the Day phase, the Monster must play exactly one card from their stash of bad luck. However, now each monster has new cards with specific abilities that are much more powerful.

Use these cards to survive the Night phase.

Unleash your full power to stop those meddlesome kids!

Step 4: Confront (Kids)

The Kids combine all of the cards in their hands to determine the amount of damage dealt to the Monster this round.

For every seven points of Luck gathered, the Kids will deal one damage to the monster.

7 Luck = 1 Damage, 14 Luck = 2 Damage, etc.

For every Monster Weapon with a symbol matching the enemy Monster, deal one damage to the Monster.

Any weapons targeting the other two monsters are worthless

The Monster wins the game if the Kids cannot eliminate them in 7 rounds. The ancient curse over Misfortune Lane will remain unbroken!

The Kids win the game if they defeat the Monster before the end of 7 rounds. The ancient curse over Misfortune Lane will finally be broken!

Risks and challenges

This will be Howling Hog Games' first Kickstarter, but hopefully it is apparent that we are doing everything within our control to ensure a successful launch for all those involved. In line with this awareness, we've attempted to streamline our process by not including any stretch goals.

We have a good working relationship with our manufacturer, LongPack Games. LongPack Games has a longstanding reputation of quality manufacturing and accurate delivery times. Our fulfillment will be handled post-manufacturing by ShipBob. We want to take preventative measures to make sure we aren't biting off more werewolf than we can chew.

Nonetheless, the usual risks apply that are a concern to any Kickstarter Project. Things can become delayed for a variety of reasons, but our estimated fulfillment date of August 2019 should be more than ample time to accommodate any complications. Ideally, most of our backers (especially those in the United States) should receive their product(s) well before August. No matter what happens, backers will be kept updated via project updates.
