Imagine if you had a shirt with a picture of "a hat with the word 'movies' on it" on it.
The inspiration for this project came from a noble project on Kickstarter started by an American guy to produce a hat with the word 'movies' on it. Needless to say, I was impressed.
I was stirred by the vision of the project and the appropriately valid plea for support by the creator. I eagerly clicked on the product and scrolled through the list of countries to where it could be shipped. I searched high and low through the 3 options available but alas, Australia was not on the list. Staring blankly at the screen, I lifted my hand off my mouse and mustering what energy I had, I pushed myself away from my desk, rolling rapidly across the carpet on my office chair a distance of several centimetres.
I could have stood up and walked away then and there and life would have gone on, probably. Then I thought, no, did George Lucas give up halfway through American Graffiti? Did the guy who directed Groundhog Day give up?
The Eureka moment!
As I calmed down my thoughts began to clear. The project had inspired me so now I should do something to inspire others. I needed to make something that was not only good for the cause of movies but was also inspiring to what can be achieved if you apply some determination.
Then it occurred to me. What if I made a shirt which had a picture of "a hat with the word 'movies' on it" on it. I immediately got some paper and did a sketch of my vision. As soon as I made the last pencil stroke I picked up the sketch in my hands and lifted it towards the heavens. The lifting of the sketch was for dramatic effect and not necessarily required for my project to work. There was nobody around to see me lift the sketch in the air but the dramatic effect was strong.
Why you should support this project?
I am not asking people to support this project instead of the original 'movies' on a hat project. That is not my intent as I think these projects complement each other well. I believe this shirt with "a picture of a hat that says 'movies' on it" on it will make a good conversation starter. If someone asks you why you are wearing a shirt which has "a picture of a hat with the word 'movies' on it" on it you can tell them about movies. That is an important message. If you get time though, please also tell them about a guy in Australia who went to buy a hat with the word 'movies' on it and shipping wasn't available to his country and although no one would have judged him for giving up then and there, he didn't.
Where is the shirt with the picture of "a hat that says 'movies' on it" on it available?
As well as being available in Australia (some people in Australia watch movies), I know I must make this product available worldwide. So if you live in the USA, Canada or UK, please go to the original kickstarter project made by Kentucker Audley and buy a hat or a shirt which has the word 'movies' on it.
However, it would also be greatly appreciated if you could support my project and buy a shirt with a picture of "a hat that has the word 'movies' on it" on it. Thank you and good luck.
Risks and challenges
If the shirt gets wet it may go a little bit see through so just think about that.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
