A prototype is a preliminary model of something. Projects that offer physical products need to show backers documentation of a working prototype. This gallery features photos, videos, and other visual documentation that will give backers a sense of what’s been accomplished so far and what’s left to do. Though the development process can vary for each project, these are the stages we typically see:
Proof of Concept
Explorations that test ideas and functionality.
Demonstrates the functionality of the final product, but looks different.
Looks like the final product, but is not functional.
Appearance and function match the final product, but is made with different manufacturing methods.
Appearance, function, and manufacturing methods match the final product.
We built Kenmyo, the world's first practical and seamless solution to keep track of all your belongings, saving you potentially thousands of both dollars and hours, in searching for or replacing misplaced items.
Wallets are emptied, time is wasted, and confidence is destroyed when we go out to replace a missing belonging.
In the constantly growing world we live in today, we have more and more things, but losing those belongings has continued to be a terrifying problem in our everyday lives. The only real solutions we’ve had for this had been relentlessly trying to recall where we stored our valued possessions, or using a physical tag on objects we had to manually select to track.
But, we’re constantly viewing and processing sensory inputs as we live, and our memory can only recall so much.
Additionally, why do we have to be limited to physically tagging specific objects? What if we misplaced something that we had forgotten to tag?
We thought that, in the 21st century, living with doubts and relying on memory or physical, invasive tools to keep track of our things was completely unacceptable.
So, we went out and created Kenmyo, the world’s first seamless, smart camera monitoring system that integrates with your life.
If you lose things – and you don't have the days and thousands of dollars to search for and replace misplaced belongings – you need Kenmyo.
Kenmyo is the world’s first practical solution to locating real objects, and it uses intelligent computing to be your virtual helper. With simple, minimalistic, yet powerful usage designed for the user, we’ve developed Kenmyo as something that ties into your needs.
Picture this: you're rushing your way to work after waking up late on a Monday morning, and when you're halfway through the building door, you realize you don't have your lucky watch. You're scrambling through your pockets, your jacket – to no avail.
Are you going to have to dish out another few hundred again for that watch?
But there is hope: you get a notification on your phone saying you left it in the kitchen at 7:30am. When you get home you realize that it slid off the table counter, but Kenmyo told you all you needed to know about its time and location information, so you pick up right when you get home after work.
Now you can use those few hundred dollars for other things! Thanks Kenmyo!
Kenmyo is extremely intelligent. Kenmyo is able to detect a large variety of objects, and as it periodically captures images, it’s able to adapt to the use that you need it for.
As your Kenmyo understands you and your belongings, little by little, it's able to send you (through SMS or email) an out-of-pattern behavior and where and when that object you are being notified was last spotted.
Kenmyo handles all the complicated tasks behind: finding, labeling, and displaying your objects. Follow the simple instructions on the device: connect it to the Internet, configure any USB or wireless cameras you have, and you’re ready to use Kenmyo!
Whether you’re in front of your Kenmyo, or away from your home, your Kenmyo will do all the thinking: live with the peace of mind that never worrying about misplacing your objects provides you!
Kenmyo gives you the flexibility to have your designated area(s) under control as you live your life. You don’t have to be next to Kenmyo as you go through your day. Once you’ve got the device setup, you can use Kenmyo’s functionality anywhere on any web-enabled device.
You can search for your stuff remotely from:
Your tablet device
Your game console (if that's your web-surfing device of choice)
We have exciting new features that we want to push out onto the Kenmyo. We’re always looking to make our system better: give us your feedback, and stay tuned for updates to the device (they don’t require any additional work to receive -- we’ll always push system messages to your device).

The idea for Kenmyo started off as a hackathon project at the University of California Los Angeles’ LAHacks competition, where we won the grand prize under the project name ctrlfeverything. The project’s inspiration was simple: we constantly lose things, and there had never been a genuine, practical solution to find the items we lose. With the goal to “Control+Find” lost objects, we developed the first iteration of the Kenmyo system.
Since developing the initial system, we’ve been hard at work, and we’ve developed a final device that’s ready for production. We listened to your comments, and we’ve provided everything you’ve wanted in the device.
At Kenmyo, we would like to be very transparent with our backers. After all, we are building the device as a community.
The majority of the funds generated through the campaign will be used for the production, testing, and shipping of the devices, but any profits will be used to build our new system -- deploying to production costs a sizeable amount of money!
We need your help in deploying Kenmyo together and starting a revolution in the use of vision and AI in our everyday lives.
Below is our timeline for constructing, testing, and shipping your Kenmyo. These are deadlines, and we'll do our best to get your Kenmyo to your doorstep as quickly as possible.

Risks and challenges
The biggest obstacle for us has been acquiring the capital to release our product and show its ability to help people of all backgrounds to solve the age-old problem of losing things. But we are optimistic for your help to be the catalyst for a worldwide change in the integration of artificial intelligence to solve problems that were deemed impossible before.
We have our software, model, and manufacturing connections all ready for production, and all we need is your support. And while we can’t guarantee that we won’t face any challenges along the way, we are committed to bringing the Kenmyo into your hands as quickly as possible, and we will update and engage with you along the way.
