I am so excited to introduce this new tabletop game called Snowfall Recall! It’s a crazy fun 2 player game that is a new twist on the old memory game.
You know the old game, it’s the game where you try to collect pairs of cards, and whoever collects the most pairs wins. While that game is fun and helps you improve memory skills, there is not much strategy involved.
Snowfall Recall changes all of that. Each player still tries to get pairs, but they try to get their own pairs of cards. Players claim their cards by placing their chips on their claimed cards.
The score is tallied at the end of the game, when all of the chips have been played. The scores earned are those with pairs of that person's color.
The game is made up of 20 blue cards:
And 20 Black Cards:
The luck comes into play with the custom 6 sided die:
The die has one blank side, 2 one sides, 2 two sides, and 1 three side. The die is used at the beginning of each turn, which tells the player how many moves they get to use that turn. Even with unlucky rolls, a player can make moves that still brings them out ahead
The cards, chips, dice, and packaging are small enough to take wherever you go, and the amount of required table space is small because the cards are a small size.
The Expansion Pack
There is some exciting additional gameplay possible by adding BONUS cards! The expansion of the game is available for an additional $5 (shipping is still included). The expansion includes 8 extra cards that expand the gameplay. The game can be played by adding 2 or 4 of these cards to the mix to make it a little more interesting.
The additional cards are:
- 2 wild cards (one white, and one blue) which will count as any number if you manage to get it
- 2 additional point cards (worth 2 points each), any player can get any of these
- 2 additional turns/additional point cards, which can be kept for additional plays later, or if a chip is left on it is worth 2 points
- 2 Additional marker cards, when flipped gives the player an additional marker to play with
The expansion cards included will add a lot more gameplay, and still fit inside the tin container, for the convenient portability.
The expansion pack will also include an instruction card and additional chips for the additional chip cards.
New Solo Gameplay
Sometimes it's hard to find a competitor to play board games with! Luckily, there is a solo version of the game! The solo version is played by using one set of colors as turn counters, and scoring the most amount of points with a slight rule change in scoring. The rules for the solo gameplay will be included in the base version of the game, and they are explained in more detail in the Update section.
Risks and challenges
I have tried to do a few Kickstarter projects in the past, and I've fallen short of earning enough funding because I was a little bit overly ambitious with my goals. My past efforts involved me trying to make games with the help of professional manufacturers. Unfortunately, it takes much more effort and more connections than I had and a bigger following than I had to make a game that much bigger than what I was capable of at the time.
I have since learned that I should start small, and that is what I intend to do. I am planning on assembling all of the games myself. I found suppliers online who are capable of supplying large and small quantities of parts, and I went with the smallest goal possible that I could go with. For that reason, if I just make my goal of $2000, I will essentially break even and make no profit, but I will be able to make as many games as are purchased. I am so excited at the idea of having these games available to the world, instead of just a single copy that I have at home.
I am also giving myself some extra time than I really need to compile these games. If this game remains on the smaller end of purchases, I will buy all of the parts needed and assemble the games at home. If the game becomes too popular for that, I am giving myself enough time to deliver for that case too. I don't intend on taking as long as August 2018 for a delivery, that is for wiggle room.
I am an engineer with management skills and I think that should qualify me to take care of whatever purchasing or quality challenges arise. As far as hard work and creativity goes, I came up with this game concept the day before Thanksgiving. Since then I made my own artwork, created a nice prototype and got it printed in time to put this Kickstarter project online the day after Christmas.
I will also communicate effectively when things do come up. I do not plan on leaving anybody in the dark with the making of this project.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
