We are raising $35,000 to make a short Sci-fi/Thriller entitled "Warped". We plan to use this film as a pitch to investors and production companies that the concept is solid enough to be made into a feature film.
We also plan on shooting in Shreveport, LA and entering the short into the Louisiana Film Prize 2017.
WARped is about a soldier in the future who must travel back in time to prevent a massive genocide before it happens.
Resistance fighters have hidden in underground bunkers and attempt to make one last mission before an imminent defeat...
The technology to travel through time is highly illegal, and punishable by death. Time travelers are viciously hunted down and their machines are destroyed. But one last machine remains along with the final chance to save humanity.
Making movies is probably the most expensive art form, because they take a lot of work from a lot of people, specialized in different crafts. These people should be paid and paid what they are worth.
We all love movies, don't we? We love going to the theater, watching blu-ray in our living rooms with surround sound, maybe even watching Netflix on our phone in bed. We need stories, but we easily forget how much time and effort and MONEY they require, especially to be really good!
This is a big reason why we want to shoot in Shreveport. It's an amazing place to make movies because it costs less, people there are awesome, and there happens to be this film festival called the Louisiana Film Prize that is the best festival in the country, maybe in the world.
The Louisiana Film Prize is one of the only festivals in the entire world where you can really monetize a short film. One film takes home a grand prize of $50,000 dollars. So it only only makes sense that we shoot in Shreveport and enter the festival again.
Wait, AGAIN? Some of the team behind this project is actually from Shreveport and they've been an LAFP finalist more than once.
But it's not always about winning or getting into a festival. In our case, it's about presenting an idea. We hope you can help us get this project off the ground by becoming a contributor to our short film, "Warped".

Risks and challenges
This biggest challenge in making this film for the Louisiana Film Prize is that we are proceeding with the assumption that we will raise ALL of our funds (and hopefully more).
We have to book actors and actresses, our cinematographer, editor, composer, and the rest of our crew in advance. In the film business, you move from gig to gig, and trying to book a working professional for a project without funds... forget it.
But there is a remedy, and that remedy is trust. In our business, it's all about relationships, and that is the glue that can bind a dubious proposition such as participating in making crowdfunded short film. Over the years our team of professionals has made many talented friends, friends that will sign on, and agree to the project because they trust us, and they believe in the project. Professionals do shorts because they are fun! But they should never be free ;)Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
