About this project
We at Orchard Winfield Productions are looking to push the boundaries in great story telling by providing bright and talented up and coming artists an outlet to highlight and present their work. We are also fortunate to work with established industry professionals who find our project intriguing with immense potential and they want to contribute their talents. We work with a strong and professional team of actors, writers, directors, crew and designers to bring our vision come to life on screen. What better way to begin this exciting journey than to make and deliver a show that gives you all that sinful primetime drama whenever you want it. So, we present to you People you Know.
People you Know is a sexy and provocative series with gut-wrenching storylines, and dynamic characters all wrapped up in the city that never sleeps that will have you on the edge of your seat. In People you Know, we tackle relevant stories in today's world that affect everyone and use inventive narrative techniques to keep our viewers hooked. Follow eight friends as they traverse NYC striving to discover love, achieve their dreams, and of course, survive the drama. We created this show to explore the ideas of family – the one you choose and the one you’re born to – how love and ambition rarely mix and how sexuality consumes you with heightened drama.
We recently completed Pilot Part One which was directed by critically acclaimed and award winning film director, recently for Morgan, and Co-Founder of United Gay Network Michael Akers and we are now looking to shoot subsequent episodes to share with our fans. With your help and support, we can!
We are formatting the show as 22-minute episodes. As you can see from the video trailer, we believe in using the best production values around and working with professional directors and actors. We are fortunate to have assembled such a talented and dedicated crew for this project. Even though we can’t pay them what they are worth, your contributions will help make their 12 plus hour days bearable.
As you can see by the stats box to the right, our first objective is to raise:
- $30,000 - Which will allow us to maintain the high quality and produce the next episode as a follow up to the cliffhanger ending of Pilot Part One.
If we are fortunate enough to reach our second goal of:
- $60,000 - This will enable us to shoot episodes two and three.
If we reach:
- $150,000- We can shoot up to episode 6, which would be our mid-season break, have the ability to expand camera and production equipment as well as invest heavily in marketing the series.
OH MY CHER! With your help you can catapult us to our overall goal of:
- $300,000 - We can bring the entire 13 episode season to reality for everyone to enjoy.
Anything beyond that we can ensure to keep the production top notch and begin developing and producing season 2.
You may be thinking: “That is a lot of money!!!” But in reality it isn't. We are producing high quality material per episode and maintaining network standards at a fraction of the $300-$500k that it would take an actual network to achieve. While we are keeping everything on a shoe-string budget and paying only for what we absolutely must, we firmly believe in paying appropriately for production value – camera equipment, locations, production design. We were able to create a slick, professional cinematic pilot with a sliver of the budget a studio has. In order to maintain the level of quality and professionalism apparent in Pilot Part One, we need to be able to feed and pay our crew wages for the talent, which is not nearly what they're worth for their effort and commitment they bring to the project.
We personally invested over half of the initial $30k pilot budget ourselves with the remainder coming from friends, family and donors who believe in the project.
If you like the series trailer and pilot teaser you have seen, and you want to see more of it, please contribute to help us make the rest of the season. Spread the word - every set of eyes will bring us one step closer to our overall goal. We will regularly update our campaign as we get closer to the production dates. We're asking for this much, because we’re working with feature-quality equipment to get the best production values for our audience. If we’re fully funded, we aim to begin production in mid-June and shoot over the summer with a premier date set in the Fall. As you can see from the video, we can make a great show, but we need your help to do it. Anything you can donate will help. No amount too small or too large.

Risks and challenges
With an undertaking like People You Know, we have to be prepared for the myriad things that can go wrong. For instance, an outside shoot may have to be delayed due to rain, equipment may break, or a filming location may come with lots of extraneous noise. Our fantastic crew can solve these problems on the fly and make difficult situations work. Sometimes these challenges even lead to the best scenes- or at least a great story. Remaining positive and keeping organized is one key to our success.
This series will be successful because our talented cast members breathe life into their characters and take their roles very seriously. There is a real demand for LGBT content. Our series is fresh and features complex and provocative characters. In addition to receiving all the swell swag for donating, you will be an essential part in creating quality queer positive storytelling.
We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for taking the time to check out this project. Your generosity means so much and we promise to bring you hours of laughter, scandal and drama on PyK.
