What is a prototype?

A prototype is a preliminary model of something. Projects that offer physical products need to show backers documentation of a working prototype. This gallery features photos, videos, and other visual documentation that will give backers a sense of what’s been accomplished so far and what’s left to do. Though the development process can vary for each project, these are the stages we typically see:

Proof of Concept

Explorations that test ideas and functionality.

Functional Prototype

Demonstrates the functionality of the final product, but looks different.

Appearance Prototype

Looks like the final product, but is not functional.

Design Prototype

Appearance and function match the final product, but is made with different manufacturing methods.

Production Prototype

Appearance, function, and manufacturing methods match the final product.

About

What is Bot:Bit?

Bot:Bit is world first customizable Micro:bit-based robot that teaches robotics and programming in many possible fun ways.

Using MicroPython, a powerful programming language, Bot:Bit allows you to code easily in programming blocks. Whether you are novice or expert, Bot:Bit is always ready for your command.

Say Hi to Bot:Bit
Say Hi to Bot:Bit

Bot:Bit is a well-rounded robot!

Bot:Bit is a creative artist!

Bot:Bit is a talented musician!

Bot:Bit is an athletic sportsman!

Bot:Bit is a brave warrior!

Thanks to Micro:bit’s support for swarm robotics, it enables Bot:Bit to be a team player. See multiple Bot:Bits demonstrate the true definition of teamwork!

How to use Bot:Bit?

Bot:Bit is equipped with 2 speedy wheels and a pair of versatile arms to power your creative ideas. Using Bot:bit is as easy as A-B-C: Assemble , Build the code and Customise

Assemble Bot:Bit:

With all the required hardwares in the package, assembling Bot:Bit will be a hassle free task for you. Building Bobi yourself provides you with a good understanding of the mechanical, electronics and structure of the robot.

Build the code:

Using our customized programming user interface, simply drag and drop the code blocks and upload to Bot:bit with a simple click! Just sit back and relax, let’s see Bot:Bit in action!

Customize and Control Bot:Bit:

Customise Bobi’s appearance and make it into your personal companion to explore anywhere and anyway you like with a handheld controller.

Now let us take a closer look at what powers Bot:Bit

Beginners can start with any block-based programming editors like Scratch, makecode or MU editor. With these editors, coding is as simple as clicking and dragging blocks. Text-based code will also be updated alongside the blocks. This is to ensure seamless transition as you move along the learning curve. Experienced programmers can programme Bot:Bit directly with more powerful programming languages such as MicroPython or JavaScript.

With Micro:bit as the brain, a wide range of premium materials and components as well as state-of-the-art sensors are also used to ensure the best quality and full-range function of Bot:bit.

These includes:

  • High strength aluminum with precise CNC cutting
  • Premium Printed Circuit Board
  • Line tracking sensor
  • Ultrasonic sensor
  • N20 motors
  • High quality servos

Online Resources

Don’t worry if you do not have any experience with robotics or programming, we have a huge library of online resources to guide you along the way.

Featuring step-by-step tutorials, sample programmes and more, this extensive library makes sure your journey with Bot:Bit is always smooth with a supporting hand.

Nevertheless, we also have sample lesson plans for educators to carry out STEAM-related classes. You will never run out of ideas with Bot:Bit in your classroom.

Development Team

Bot-bit is the brainchild of two passionate and experienced STEAM education companies, GAIAPLAY and LABPLUS. We wanted an all-in-one robot to provide the joy of learning and teaching robotics whether you are an amature, learner or teacher.

Our engineers spent great effort researching its structure, electronics, mechanics and software of Bot:Bit. This has resulted in a perfect blend of architecture ideal for technology education.

We have spent the last 2 years working with different prototypes of Bot:Bit and now we are ready to go from a functional robot into an educational kit for you.

Risks and challenges

The risks for this project are low as we have a mature design with reliable electronics within. We have already sourced for multiple manufacturering partners to ensure botbit can be manufactured in time. We will spend the time to fine-tune botbit and organize online resources to get ourselves ready before the final launch!
