Lemmings is a dark comedy about two men who have found a way to use the streets to clean up the world ... if they have the guts...
“Tonight we usher in a new age of natural selection!”
WE DID IT! WE MADE OUR GOAL! THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO PLEDGED AND THANK YOU TO ANYONE WHO GETS IN A PLEDGE WHILE THERE IS STILL TIME!!
Lemmings is a psychological dark comedy about death and consequences. After their friend is killed by a distracted driver, two men discover that if they step into a street, someone will follow them. And if they time it right, they can return their city to natural selection, one lemming at a time. But with death comes a price. While one man is reborn, the other is destroyed.
How many times have you watched someone almost get hit by a car? You’re minding your own business and the quiet hum of the city is broken by the blare of a horn. You turn your head and see someone running back to the sidewalk as a car sloppily drives past. You instantly know what just happened. Somebody walked into the street, either not paying attention or thinking they can get across in time, and when faced with the reality that they are facing death, they either run back to their sidewalk or bolt to the other side even faster. This is the New York City version of fight or flight… or freeze.
Haven’t you ever wondered what would happen if you decided to walk out into the street? Would someone just follow you for no other reason than that the person next to them is moving?
Well… you’re about to find out.
WHAT WE’RE DOING
Lemmings is a concept that we developed after some vigorous debates about the awareness of modern day people. Have people fallen off the tracks? Are they too distracted by their iPhones, emails, music, etc? And can someone that's completely entranced by talk radio while driving their car could kill someone who is so entranced by their podcast that they don't notice a car coming?
In Lemmings, two men discover that if they step into a street, someone will follow them. And if they time it right, with a car coming, that person will be struck by the car behind them. One man embraces the idea that this is will return the world to a state of libertarian natural selection while the other has a… more complicated reaction.
Alessandro and Matthew are telling this story in the form of an episode web series. A mixture of comedy and drama. A psychological dark comedy, if you will. The first season will comprise eight episodes ranging about 8 minutes with an explosive double finale! They will tell the story of Peter and Ferris discovering this method and expanding it to a cult of murder, Peter falling in love with one of those devoted members, the conflicts between Peter and Ferris, and an ending that we guarantee no one will see coming.
(NOTE: If you do see the ending coming, there is no monetary value for said guarantee. However, they will give you a pat on the back and a shout out for being so freakin’ awesome.)
WHY WE’RE DOING IT
Because telling stories is awesome and the world loves to watch them. Alessandro and Matthew have been working together for years creating science fiction and horror stories all around New York with EndTimes Productions and others. Naked Holidays? They did that. Vignettes for the Apocalypse? They did that too. Thousands of people have watched their work and laughed, cried, and laughed again.
Now they are taking it to the next level and spread their well-received stories to the world. This story, which can only be told in an episodic and filmed format, is hilarious, thrilling, and exciting. They have been developing it with Leal Vona and Brett Andres for a year and they are extremely passionate about it. That is why they are going to Kickstarter to get some help making that passion a reality.
WHO’S DOING IT
Lemmings was created by Matthew Kreiner and Alessandro Colla, but it didn’t end there. They developed it with Leal Vona and Brett Andres to write nine scripts. Now working with their producer, Meghan Sinclair, they are putting it into action. They have been working in entertainment for over 10 years and are veterans at their craft.
(Fun fact: Together they all have a combined 50 years of entertainment experience. That’s older than the Vietnam War!!!)
They’ve cast the show already with some great actors including Samantha Cooper and Sean-Michael Bowles, both are some of the most talented actors we’ve had the pleasure to work with.
HOW WE’RE DOING IT
Money. Oh boy do we need money. Despite what Robert Rodriguez may tell you, doing this film stuff is EXPENSIVE. Alessandro and Matthew are already towing the line with a large portion of the expenses but we are planning to stretch our dollar to make the most quality. We’re looking for $8,000 to help supplement our funds. The rest of the money will come from the producers, family, advertising, and any loose change we find on the sidewalk.
This web series will require a lot. We need to rent camera equipment, hire a DP, rent lighting equipment, hire a sound mixer, get locations, pay the crew, special effects, website hosting fees, graphic designers, and feed everybody (because those shoot days can get really long). The list goes on, but we’re not here to bore you. We’re here to ask you to help us and we really appreciate it.
Anything you can donate will help. No amount is too small or too large.
If we get funded, we aim to begin production in mid-June and shoot over the course of four to five weeks. We hope to launch Lemmings this fall on a weekly basis!

RISKS AND CHALLENGES
Potential obstacles facing production is the schedules of the actors and crew as no one is getting paid a living wage and we all need to make money to live somehow. We need to accomplish a lot of special effects (as you can see in the trailer) and be safe about it too. We’re preparing for production now as the campaign is running so we can hit the ground running if we get funded.
Post-production is also a real deal. We don’t have a lot or money, even if we get the base funding, and we need to hope for the love of the editors, mixers, and VFX artists so that we can turn around the episodes in a timely fashion so we don’t hiccup on the release to the public. Nothing is more annoying than going to a site expecting some content and finding out it’s not ready yet.
We plan to fulfill all of our rewards in a timely fashion. Some (like getting a DVD copy or dinner with the creators and cast) may be delayed till after production wraps, but we promise that we will get it to you so stay in touch!
