About this project
I'm a photographer that got into photography back in the early 90's in Tokyo Japan actually. I was a military child so as a result I was able to experience Asia very young and all the vibrant colorful art it had. From seeing that it inspired me to get into photography, though honestly I have always loved cameras from both photo and video work since I was a child. After coming back from Japan where I lived 15 years to Texas which I'd never been before I was taken aback some as It wasn't what I thought.
From movies and things I expected more of a wild, wild west type scenario, and being from New York, but growing up in Japan those were where I drew my depictions of city life from of course. Living in Texas since 2005 and seeing Dallas, Houston, Austin, and San Antonio among places I saw Texas wasn't a huge difference from Tokyo or New York. Just a big giant state with city more spread out verses condensed and everything closer together. While living in Texas between doing video work I started back on my photography like I used to in Tokyo, and putting it anywhere I could on the internet really just for fun, and out of the love for how passionate I am about photography.
As a photo captures a moment that can never be duplicated, so you capture a permanent moment in time, a feeling, an emotion... Things I enjoy about photography. I never was able to afford a DSLR camera so I just used basic digital cameras and my cell phone as that's all I have and being so passionate about photography somehow, someway I'm going to take that picture if it's at all possible.
From posting my pictures online everyone started telling me I should sell my work, thing was I don't own a DSLR camera so aside from a lot of photoshop I can't make my pictures look sell worthy as nothing duplicates the resolution of DSLR photography as I found time and time again. I love all the beautiful scenery in Texas and this gave me the idea to go on a road trip photographing Texas and all the nicest places I have been and seen here to show the world my vision of Texas.
I realized this will both require funding and a at least decent DSLR camera. I'm raising the money to both obtain a DSLR camera and from the funding of the road trip to do the photography and for the rewards of course. I feel when you have a dream you should never give up, put forth your all, and give it all you've got. Help me not just show the world Texas through my eyes, but introduce the world to Trip-Tography. I appreciate each and every one of you that supports me.
I feel this project will help me give small businesses much needed attention as I go from city to city giving them exposure with my unique brand of photography between doing the street photography I plan to do. Also help bring money and opportunity as I show off the reasons why tourists would want to come to the cities I photograph and check them out which in turn I feel may even create jobs for the unemployed. This project is bigger than just photography to me, it's about helping others too.
The money is for gas, expenses staying in each city, processing the rewards as far as paper to print the photography, ink which I will go through a ton of printing out photos for those who want the autographed photo book, and towards the camera of course. Also factored in is Kickstarter & Amazon's fees which once they take the fees will give me just right at enough money to complete this project.
Risks and challenges
From growing up in Tokyo I am a very hard worker and have been conditioned that nothing is too difficult, or too challenging. My biggest obstacle would have only been the car breaking down over the course of this long road trip, or the project not being being funded of course as then I will not be able to make this a reality.
Of those 2 obstacles one is no worry at all, which is the transportation as the person I will be traveling with just bought a brand new car so I don't have worry about the car breaking down which is awesome.
This is to be a planned trip from every place I will be staying in each city down to where I plan to shoot all the photography so I don't expect set backs, however if they arise I will simply keep moving forward no matter what, and quickly figure out solutions.
Even if the project is not fully funded one day I still plan to do the Texas project somehow someway as when I get it in mind to do something and get it done, I never give up. I'm not the type of person to get discouraged and give up just because things didn't work out the way I wanted, I just will find another way. I feel the world should experience Trip-Tography and with the help of backers from Kickstarter.com I can share the experience.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
Given it's funded, I should expect it to start after July 15th, and finish the by early August at which point I will begin processing the rewards.
You will be able to see them on www.tishacruzan.com, there will be a special section on the website dedicated to them. Plus I will be posting the pictures on my various social networking websites I use from Tumblr, Twitter, Flickr, Facebook, Instagram ect.
If I raised up to double what I'm asking for I plan to extend the tour to New Mexico, Arizona, Nevada, California and more depending on how much I actually raise. I would like to photograph as many states as possible honestly with my unique Trip-Tography style, only the backers can make that possible though.
Usually the glamorized cities are in New York, Miami Fl, or California so I wanted to show the world Texas is just as nice. From the shopping to all of the nice places to eat, even to the night life, Texas is just as nice, and I want to show the world Texas through my lens/eyes.
You can contact me through Facebook, Twitter, or even www.Tishacruzan.com and I would just let you know if I'd be in your area around that time so we could make it happen.
In the rewards if I decide to get a personal picture retouched by you, how quickly would I get it back?
I will handle the pictures in the order I receive them, plus I have an assistant that helps in the photo editing so we can easily edit upwards of over 30 photos a day.
Because I'm very reliable, a hard worker, and always keep my word. If you Google Trip Ghetaway you can find all the things I do online, and see I'm not, nor have ever been online just playing around. If you look at examples of my photography, just imagine how the pictures will look when I go around Texas doing this tour. If your from, or in Texas you should back the project to help me show Texas, and Texas pride to the world. Essentially backing me your helping change the way the whole world will see photography as I have a unique style the eye can throughly appreciate.
I changed it from $75 to $50 as I was trying to change it someone pledged $100 right at that moment so I was unable to change it.
