"How To Build The Perfect PC"
Is the only book you'll need when you're ready to build your first computer
This book is geared towards gamers. If you're like me, you probably grew up playing consoles. Now that you're older, more adventurous, and a total graphics whore, you finally decided to jump into the wild blue yonder of PC gaming.
With the release of Ryzen, we thought up an idea that will blow your socks off. Learn how to build a computer for the price of a latte.
I noticed a valid gap in the marketplace. When I first built my computer, I tried to memorize YouTube videos and copy exactly what they were doing step by step. I quickly realized PC building is actually a pain in the butt. I tried magazines, joining online forums, and scouring the internet for technical videos and tips on PC building.
I probably spent over $30 dollars in one day on three PC building magazines...
and learned absolutely nothing. It was nearly impossible to piece together knowledge over the span of two months from various sources and expect my finished project to come in under budget. My first PC was underpowered and didn't meet my expectations.
To build a perfect PC in a way that saves you time and money, you really need all the encompassing information thrown into one easy package so you don't forget any essentials. That's where this book comes in.
Most PC magazines and YouTube videos are full of beautiful and well organized content marketed to:
A) Old men living in their parents basements
B) Super nerds that already know everything about computers
I needed information that could be applied, but the information I came across wasn't practical. Even worse, a majority of internet forums on PC gaming are loose opinions. I unfortunately bought into a lot of personal preferences that lacked substance or validity (especially when it concerned overclocking).
No one told me building a computer is hard.
That's why I sought out friends I trusted that knew how to eliminate hassle and could see in advance all the mistakes I would probably make. This book is that friend. This book is your survival guide. This book will save you days of mumbled cursing, stress, and and second guessing yourself. This book will save you money. Still confused on what exactly the book is about? Let's get specific...
How To Build The Perfect PC is a consumer's guide on:
Planning, Building, and Optimizing the perfect PC with practical advice.
Chapter layout: (subject to change)

- Intel or AMD?
- Work from the inside-out
- Planning your perfect PC
- Obtaining the perfect parts
- Organizing a clean work space
- Where do I start?
- Cable management pro
- Finishing touches
- Installing the OS
Oh. Did I mention I'm building the computer based off of a Ryzen processor? There are two reasons behind this; To help the book:
1) Stay current with up-to-date information
2) Stand out from the crowd (in this case, the crowdfunding)
Why do I need $1,000 dollars? Let's talk money.
If we meet our goal of $1,000:
- $800 will go towards building the computer
- $200 will go towards launching the website and paying my team members
If we raise upwards of $1,000, I can launch more e-books (or possibly even a traditional paperback) on PC building!
If just one person backs the project at the highest reward tier and buys the computer itself, the project will be fully funded. The PC will be based off of the Ryzen R1700 processor. Expect this to be a mid-high end AMD build, featuring a Phanteks Enthoo EVOLV ATX case!
Not only is your money going into funding the book itself. The money will also go into maintaining our:
- Facebook page, website, YouTube channel, and team members
What are you waiting for? I wasted hundreds of dollars on parts I didn't need because I thought they were a good deal. I wasted hours trying to make everything fit "just right." PC building should be all about personalization, but it often turns into utter frustration.
Save yourself the trouble and read a book instead! I promise you'll be ready to build a gaming computer. The Perfect PC is cheap, outperforms, and is aesthetically pleasing. I will show you how to make something far greater than the sum of its parts.
You deserve to have the perfect PC built by YOU, for YOU.
Risks and challenges
Before I even thought about starting this project I had to gather a lot of support from my friends and family. After I gathered emotional support, I felt confident enough to write an awesome book.
Money was the biggest issue holding me back. I didn't want to borrow the money or take out a business loan. So that's why I'm utilizing the kickstarter platform, to capitalize on the internet's overwhelming generosity and optimism for unproven ideas!
The computer store I work at is a deep well of information and support. In any area I lack knowledge, there are professionals there to inform me when I'm wrong and to guide me along the way. So the only hurdle remaining is to obtain the very minimum amount of funds to launch the e-book: $1,000!
My degree is computer science. I love writing, and my fiancée loves editing and business. So starting the website and book, and launching a full force social media campaign went surprisingly smoothly.
A valid risk to worry about could be the release date. I plan on releasing the book on April 8th. It will give me 4-5 weeks to write the book, which I've already gathered research for and started. There is a possibility that I will get behind in writing. I have never written a book before.
With any new business idea, there is a real risk of catastrophic failure. But I believe in myself, and the people around me; we are already on track to deliver an amazing book that will help and entertain you. I hope you're willing to help us back!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
