Redemption Road – My New Album!
Over 200 Backers as of Aug. 9, 2014! Thank YOU!
I am making a new recording and invite you to join me in the adventure. I’m 76 years old and about to make CD #61, give or take a few.
Who are you?
I’m Tom Paxton. Singer/songwriter. You may know some of my songs, "The Last Thing On My Mind", "Bottle of Wine", "Can't Help But Wonder Where I'm Bound", "The Marvelous Toy", "Ramblin'Boy", "My Dog's Bigger Than Your Dog" or "Goin' To The Zoo" and lots, lots more recorded on 60 previous CDs!
What's on the new CD?
I write songs daily, although some of them take years to complete. I am ready with a brand new batch of songs. If you join the Kickstarter campaign, I’ll take you through the whole process of making the CD, from writing songs to finding the right musicians to recording them and eventually, releasing the CD.
Why am I producing the album through Kickstarter?
Opportunities in the music business come and go. Long ago, major labels paid for the production, packaging and even took care of distribution and promotion. Today, as an independent musician, I enjoy making the album I want to make, the way I want to make it-no compromises. Funding through kickstarted means that:
1) You, fans and music lovers, can get involved in the CD on many levels
2) I get to interact with you-fans and music lovers and thank you for many years of loyalty, or for joining the party in my 76th year!
Where Does the Money Go?
Glad you asked! Despite what the downloading world would like you to think, it still costs money to make a great CD. I believe in paying the producer and musicians a fare wage for their work. A good studio and engineer cost money, as does a great producer (I have the BEST in Jim Rooney. By the way, read his book, “In It For The Long Run”.) Then I pay for artwork, packaging and manufacturing. Not done- there’s postage, radio promotion and print/online promotion where I hire people who love the music to get it out there to fans new and old.
I enjoy paying people for their work and love the people I work with.
What’s in it for Kickstarter Funders?
This is the coolest part of a Kickstarter campaign. I honestly look forward to signing personalized CD’s for you. Take a look at the rewards that I’m offering- from recording your outgoing phone message to lunch together in my neighborhood to spending a day in the studio in Nashville and much more. I’m looking forward to posting photos and videos to keep you updated on the process of making a new recording.
When will we get the album?
Hopefully, by the end of 2014, maybe sooner…..at the LATEST, early 2015.
Thank YOU for your support!

Of course, something could happen that might slow down the process. We'll keep you posted with a new release date if that should happen, We don't expect any delays.
