Eduli Springs is a quiet suburb, north of Atlanta Georgia. Situated along the Chattahoochee River, it features affluent communities and historic sites. It is the ideal place to raise a family or start out your suburban life.
Dahlia is not your typical high school senior. While most teenagers view school as a drudgery that must be put up with, she revels in it. School is feeding time if you’re a psychic vampire. Only something is interrupting Dahlia’s normal pattern. Someone has decided to start murdering teenage girls at Eduli Springs High School and Dahlia suspects there is something far darker behind the atrocities than just a teenager’s frustrations.
The Book of Dahlia is the first book of the Shulim Cycle. It is a dark modern-fantasy novel set in a mirror version of our own world. The Shulim Cycle will be a six-book series set in the fictional town of Eduli Springs. This town is a northern-suburb town of Atlanta, GA located along the Chattahoochee River.
Excerpt from The Book of Dahlia
Marilyn stood in the light of the windows around her. The sunlight danced lightly along the white dress with its long train laid out carefully along the floor behind her. Her hair was pulled back into a white lace veil that she had pulled back off of her face. Underneath the veil the jeweled tiara sparkled in the sunlight.
Devon stepped into the room and looked down at the baby's breath and rice that was strewn around the floor. He looked up again and found his breath taken away. As he moved closer her hair seemed to pick up more of the light, glowing like gold thread.
"You look beautiful," Devon said. Marilyn lifted her hand to her cheek and turned to face him.
"Thank you," she said. Outside, music began playing. It was Pacabel's Canon. The guests were being seated in the chairs that had been set up.
He walked over to Marilyn and kissed her softly on the lips. There was the barest hint of a perfume on her that was intoxicating, though he could not place it. The kiss became more passionate and lingered for a moment. Devon broke pulled away and stood back to look at her fully in the golden light of the windows.
"Pete's a very lucky man," Devon said.
As he stood there and looked at her, Marilyn began crying silently, the tears running down her cheeks. She wiped them away.
"I can't keep doing this," she said. She brought her hands down, gesturing to her torso. The white dress with its sparkling trim began to turn red, starting from a short thin line and expanding out in a circle. Marilyn turned pale and she looked up at him, her face twisted in pain.
Renenutet - The first Psychic Vampire. According to legend her gaze could kill. Her symbol of an eye became known as the Wadjet when she became associated with the goddess of the same name. The symbol was later adopted as a symbol of protection known as the Eye of Horus. The Renenutet as a symbol represents the Goddess and it is said was borne by psychic vampires as they carried out their Kapet.
The Kickstarter goal is to help launch the first book of the Shulim Cycle into publication. This is a self-publishing project. Kickstarter proceeds will allow me to obtain an Editorial Review for the book. If I am able to surpass my goal, I will be able to add other services I can use funding for, and if that happens I will keep everyone updated.
