It's been a long time!

Dearest Backers,

I just wanted to let you know I have a new Kickstarter campaign up - this time featuring laser engraved acrylic Christmas ornaments! Take a gander... and if you're looking to get your Christmas shopping done early, consider becoming a backer.

Also, for those of you in London, take a look at Jenna Augen (Josephine) in "Bad Jews" at the St. James Theatre on the West End in January and February. It's a terrific play, and she just won a prestigious UK Theatre Award for her performance as Daphna.

Enjoy!

Thanks,

Jon

An exciting few months

Dearest Backers,

It's been a while since I've posted an update, and some wonderful things have been happening with "Josephine and the Roach."

Starting in April, we won a series of awards, including the College Television Award (formerly known as Student Emmy) for Best Short Comedy and Best Director, the USC Faculty Award for Best Director, Best Student Film at USA Film Festival, Outstanding Achievement in Filmmaking at Newport Beach Film Festival, Best Short Comedy at Arizona International Film Festival, and a Student Academy Award in the Narrative Category.

The Student Academy Awards were great... they carted us all over town, meeting with the Sundance Institute, the WGA, Film Independent, Lionsgate, among other places. Bob Saget hosted the ceremony (he was quite funny), and Jason Schwartzman handed me my award. I got to chat with Jason a bit-- he's an incredibly nice guy and a fan of 'Roach.

My acceptance speech can be found here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mspMzSqKzDw

I also just signed with a manager and agent based on the short, and we are determined to put together a feature version of "Josephine and the Roach." Joe Swanson (my cowriter on the short) is currently writing the feature script.

Thanks again for all of your support, without which I wouldn't have been able to experience all of these fantastic things...

All the best,

Jon

Support Josephine and the Roach!

Dearest backers, I need your help once again... The Josephine and the Roach page on IMDB has a strangely low rating. Please check out the page here: http://m.imdb.com/title/tt2267560/ ...and rate it! Our film does not deserve 2.3 stars out of 10! It's the first thing anyone will see after googling "Josephine and the Roach", so it's vitally important that we get the rating up to where it should be! I really appreciate your help with this. And please spread the word... Thanks much! Jon

Slamdance

Dearest Backers,

Just a quick shout out to say that "Josephine and the Roach" will be playing at Slamdance this Friday January 18th at 12:30pm and next Monday January 21st at 2:00pm. Please let me know if you're in Park City, and I should be able to get a ticket for you!

It's been a really exciting time... since getting into Slamdance, I've been getting emails from festivals in Dubai, the UK, and Madeira... and we've started to get offers for distribution. Fun stuff!

Soon we'll be screening at San Francisco IndieFest and Lewiston Auburn Film Festival in Maine.

I also want to plug my friend Sam Hale's Kickstarter campaign for an incredible puppet short film called "Monster of the Sky." Sam is greatly talented and a really really nice guy-- he was instrumental in getting "Josephine and the Roach" into Jim Henson's Puppets on Film Festival (before he even knew me!).

Jim Henson Puppets on Film Festival

Dearest Backers,

I wanted to give you a heads up about Josephine and the Roach's screening at the Jim Henson Puppets on Film Festival in Brooklyn. It's at BAMcinématek this coming Sunday at 1pm.

I'm really excited about this screening, perhaps more than any other festival... every other short it's playing with looks really fantastic. I'll be there and will be doing a Q&A afterward. I hope to see you there!
