Winter Sale, Cheaper Event Tickets & Kickstarter Promos

Hello SolForge fans! We hope you’ve had a wonderful start to the New Year so far, and that you’ve been keeping warm this winter. We’ve got some news for you that will hopefully help get your blood pumping , as well as a friend coming your way who should help heat things up!

First of all, we wanted to let you know that we just kicked off our huge Winter Sale this week! For the duration of the sale, all items in our in-game store are 50% off their normal gold prices! That includes everything from booster packs and faction decks to event tickets and deck slots. It also covers any card posted with our new Card of the Day feature and Alternate Art of the Week, so be sure to check in each day to see what deals are available!

We’ve also made some changes that should make our free-to-play users very happy. We wanted to give all of our players more opportunities to compete in our tournaments and try out our Draft mode. To that end, we not only changed the First Online Win daily reward to guarantee a free Event Ticket every day, but we also cut the Silver price of event tickets in half! These changes are not tied to the Winter Sale and will remain in place after that ends.

With the tools for Alternate Art cards in place, it’s time that you all got your exclusive Kickstarter backer promo cards--and they look pretty awesome! Because we reached the promo card playset stretch goal, all of you who backed at the $25 tier or higher will be receiving a full three copies of this awesome new rendition of a fan favorite, which just happens to be the first SolForge card we ever designed – Scorchmane Dragon!

Additionally, we’re also going to be delivering the promo card for those who joined during our post-Kickstarter PayPal campaign, which we also promised to all of you who backed at the $25 or higher level. They means you’ll also be receiving a copy of the alternate art Ionic Warcharger!

We are still finalizing the delivery of both of these promo cards, but you should find them waiting for you in your accounts soon. Get ready to show off your fancy bling!

Last, but not least, we wanted to give you some insight into the next features you can expect to see in SolForge. We’re currently hard at work on a second large set, and development is well underway. So far we’re having a blast drafting and building constructed decks with the new cards, and we’re looking forward to the time when you can too!

We’re also finalizing the details of our Forging system. While we haven’t finalized everything let, our current plan will allow players the opportunity to convert excess cards into Silver. That Silver can then be used on whatever the player wants, from specific single cards, which will be available to purchase with Silver once Forging is live, to event tickets, booster packs, and more. Our goal is that the Forging system provides players with both a use for cards they don’t want as well as a way to acquire the specific cards they’re looking for.

It’s been an incredible journey bringing SolForge this far, and we couldn’t have done it without you. As always, thank you for your support. Be sure to come by the solforgegame.com website on a regular basis for more news from us here at Stone Blade Entertainment as well as strategy articles from the amazing community that has sprung up around this game.

When will get the animated cards from the stretch goal?

    2. Creator Travis Bryant on February 3, 2014

What @Daniel Martin said, x100. I have oodles of silver and it does me little good. Buy more basic packs, to get more common cards, that can be turned into MORE silver, ad nauseum? No. I'm not terribly interested in tournaments, either.

It's a good game and a bad monetization plan. Maybe I'm in the minority and there are sufficient "whales" that are making bank for SBE. My guess is that the release of Hearthstone on mobile will be the moment when SolForge either gets more aggressive with pricing or loses its not-terribly-strong footing in the market.

( another +100 for being able to disable the animated splash screen. You put that in that visual fluff BEFORE you put in volume controls or any sort of Undo functionality. And home sceren includes a blaring opening sound. Really?)

Never mind. The decks are back now? Maybe reloading card art took a while or the user profile retrieval took a while?

Are you sure there weren't any other changes? Like changes to existing collections?

Because I used to have 9 deck slots with a deck in each one. But when I just logged into the iOS version on my iPhone, I only have two starter decks?

    5. Creator Daniel MArtin on January 30, 2014

My previous comment is of course talking about full price. I am considering buying a premium pack or two during the sale, but at the current full price? Not a chance.

I think these changes are a step in the right direction. Being (basically) assured an event ticket per day, and being able to liquidate extra cards into Silver are good things, especially if Silver does end up having more of a use as you say. However, I am hesitant to put any more money toward this game, because the monetization still seems prohibitavely expensive, especially if you compare what $1 can get you in this game vs some other online card game such as Hearthstone.

I like SolForge, but I have never felt good about a purchase I have made in-game, because it really does not feel like I'm even coming close to getting a good value for what I have to spend.

really good update - thank you

I look forward to getting rid of 38 Cavern Hydra, 34 Spark Bots and some extra Echowisp/Scorchmane Dragon

    8. Creator Terence Bowlby on January 30, 2014

@Sean: I actually agree. I'm not complaining about the decision, I'm just saying I didn't get what I was told I was getting (in my opinion). If that info was buried in an update somewhere, that's really not cool. The pledge should have said, or at the very least somewhere prominent on the home page.

    9. Creator Sean M on January 30, 2014

Love both of the alt-art cards! Awesome! Even more since I do not have any dragons yet!

@Terence: They definitely made it very clear somewhere along the way during the Kickstarter campaign that these would be unique art, not unique cards. It would be crazy unfair for everyone who didn't get in with the Kickstarter if we got unique cards and they didn't. That would drive people away from the game like nothing else.

    10. Creator Akryum on January 30, 2014

      Awesome update! <3

    11. Creator Stephen McArthur on January 30, 2014

Thanks for these cool kickstarter only alt-card cards! A unique and awesome looking Scorchmane Dragon was what I was hoping for :D

    12. Creator James Whittet on January 30, 2014

Would REALLY like to see the ability in options to skip the reward animations. Opening the chest really takes a lot of time between games and causing a lot of crashes.

For people well into their collection, taking 30 seconds to hear you have 25 silver is really annoying. And optin to just get rewards (or rewards under a certain tier) silently credited would be much appreciated.

    13. Creator Matt C on January 29, 2014

It was said several times it would be an AA card. Good money was always on it being the dragon.

      I think it's pretty sweet!

Now to wait for that Ascension crossover promo? ;-)

    14. Creator Terence Bowlby on January 29, 2014

This is obviously some strange usage of the word "explicitly" that I wasn't previously aware of.

    15. Creator Terence Bowlby on January 29, 2014

Or anywhere on the home page...

    16. Creator Terence Bowlby on January 29, 2014

It doesn't seem very explicit in the pledges :/

    17. Creator Ritchie Tiongson on January 29, 2014

Awesome changes! And the card's most appreciated!

    18. Creator Stone Blade Entertainment on January 29, 2014

We explicitly stated during the KS campaign that the KS promo card would be an alternate version of an existing card rather than gameplay unique. We believe it's important that all players have an opportunity to get their hands on all of the gameplay unique cards in the game even if they didn't have a chance to participate in the kickstarter.

    19. Creator Terence Bowlby on January 29, 2014

Yeah... see, that's a Kickstarter only alternate art, not a Kickstarter only card.

    20. Creator Chris Schreiber on January 29, 2014

Enjoying the game very much so far and this is all very good news. The Forging system will be a big benefit. So happy to have participated.
