                                                     Darkforge Update

Hello Forgeborn! It is time for another Solforge Community Update and there is a lot to cover. The first major piece of news is of course the release of Darkforge Uprising, the most recent major expansion for Solforge, containing 48 new cards. There are many individually cool cards in the set (see some of our preview articles, here, here, and here) but we think you will particularly enjoy the new Darkforged creature type. The Darkforged represent a new power in Solis, that seems to be corrupting everything it touches. Darkforged creatures get stronger the more Darkforged are around, so things can get out of hand pretty quickly if you aren’t careful!

                                                           A new Draft  

As always, with the release of the new set the Draft format is rotated to shake things up, removing some older cards and adding in new ones. You can see the full list here. Now is a great time to check back into the game and try out all the new cards.

                                              Free Ranging to the Future

In my last community update, I mentioned that the full release of Solforge was just on the way this Fall. This is exciting news for all of us at Stone Blade and it wouldn’t have been possible without you, our backers, and the continued support of our players. This release will address many of the outstanding concerns with the game, including a complete overhaul of our UI to make the game faster, more intuitive, and less buggy. To accomplish this, we have partnered with an incredibly talented development studio, and today I wanted to introduce you to them. The studio is Free Range Games and they have countless years of experience producing high quality games that look beautiful. They are all passionate about gaming and have been fans of SolForge and collectible card games in general for years, and we are incredibly excited to have them on board. Here is a video with me and Free Range CEO Chris Sholz to tell us a little bit about their studio and their upcoming work on SolForge:

Chris and I have been talking about working together for the last year, and we have not only the upcoming release of SolForge in the works, but also an exciting new project that will be targeted for release next year. Our backers will get a first, early look at not only at the development of the final version of SolForge, but also the other exciting games on the horizon that will come from our partnership.

                                               Throw Down the Gauntlet

                                                    Ask Me Anything!

Stone Blade CEO and one of the lead designers of Solforge, Justin Gary, will be doing a Reddit AMA on July 24th at 1PM Pacific. Take the opportunity to ask your questions about Solforge, Ascension, Bad Beets, or anything else! We are looking forward to this great opportunity to interact directly with all of you.

                                                Gencon and Stone Blade

Speaking of opportunities to interact, Gecon Indianapolis is coming up soon, and most of the Stone Blade team will be there. Gencon is always an exciting time of year for us and even more exciting this year as we will be launching our newest card game, Bad Beets, at the show. Bad Beets is a fast paced bluffing game for 2-4 players ages 8 and up. We have had a ton of fun playing this around the office and can’t wait to share this with our fans

We also want to use this as an opportunity to meet with our backers and give you a chance to talk directly with us. We only exist because of you and we look forward to meeting with many of you in person, talking about Solforge, hanging out, and playing a few games together. For those at the show, come by our booth #433 and say hi. In addition, Kickstarter backers are invited to come meet us at the Hilton Bar after the show at 8pm on Saturday for some drinks, gaming, and hanging out with the Stone Blade Team.

We have traveled a long road together and I am incredibly excited about the road ahead. Making Solforge has been a life-long dream that is very close to completion. I and everyone at Stone Blade is eternally grateful and we hope to see many of you at Gencon and the rest of you online to play some Solforge!

      Thanks for the update! I've really been enjoying the new cards.

      My main gripe with the game is performance, particularly over slow networks. Since this game is specifically designed for mobile play, I'm hoping that the new release will improve efficiency of network communication.

      @Steven- art book is still on our radar, though unfortunately it is below the priority of getting the game itself released. I hope to have a bigger update on that in the next few months. Thank you again for your patience on this.

      I almost exclusively play the iPhone version. I love it but..,

      Please provide a way to open multiple packs at once. It is so slow opening packs. That I often end up with 50 unopened packs. As for displaying the results perhaps add a flag for "recently obtained" which would include anything from the past week.

      Pop up messages are slow and tedious. Please provide a way to disable those screens from popping up. Then put news and notifications in a feed with a number on it. And in that feed make those load quick.

      On iPhone provide a way to mute the music. It's good but short and repetitive. So I always mute solforge. I'd prefer not to have to.
