Martha's Thought How Thought Came To Life! Anyone who has sat in the bleachers at a sporting event...whether a college or a Little league game...has most likely knocked over a drink or seen it happen to someone else. "After many years of sitting in the bleachers at hundreds of sporting tournaments and games, I decided I had knocked over enough drinks. "When I couldn't find a portable cup holder that would work with bleachers, I came up with my own. I'm so excited for the other sports spectators to see how The Drink Defender can enhance their experience at games."

Niche *While cup holders are not new to the market place -portable cup holders that attach to bleachers are. This product serves a group of consumers that can receive a two-fold benefit: 1) keep their cup secure at their side on a bleacher (while watching their child's sporting event); 2) Support their child's club/ school sports team when purchasing the product- as most sales will likely be made vis a vi fund raising efforts from local clubs/ sports groups.
Strategy. *Distribution will be key to this products success-especially in years 1-3 as we are trying to establish the brand. To that end-we will be focusing on directors and presidents of area's local sports leagues and clubs. By working through these organizations- we believe will have the best opportunity to cast the widest net as these groups represent and all teams with in the individual leagues. Our focus will be to position the product as a opportunity for sport teams. Another strategic channel that we will pursue is to become a member of the Advertising Specialty institute- which will give us the ability to present our product to 130,000 distributor sales people located throughout the U.S. This membership will give us exposure in Advantages magazine and 10,000 distributor website. Pricing. * Our pricing model is based on three key factors: 1) the cost/ profit ratio needed to operate profitably; 2) the price points that competing products offer; 3) the price the market is willing to pay. Ultimately the price of any product or service is dictated by what the market is willing to pay. Our pricing strategy is to be moderately priced, at a dollar amount that our target audience can afford and is willing to pay.

CONTEST WINNER Local Woman Invents New Way To Protect Your Drink At Sports Events An Edwardsville woman who won a local entrepreneurial challenge is on her way to getting her invention off the ground. Inquest Marketing selected Martha Forshey as the winner of the 25th Hour Entrepreneur Challenge. She invented a product for the spectator merchandise industry called The Drink Defender. It is a portable cup holder designed specifically for use on bleachers or benches. I've sat in the bleachers at hundreds of sports tournaments and games over the years watching my four children compete," said Martha Forshey. Like every parent, I've knocked over my drink or mixed it up with someone else's more times than I can remember. Bleachers don't come with cup holders, leading to a lot of waste. When I couldn't find a portable cup holder that would work with bleachers, I came up with my own." Deliverables from that free marketing and branding workshop included a business plan, marketing plan, branding and positioning, a logo, a web site, a PR plan, and more. Martha was exactly what we were looking for...someone in Kansas City who had a great idea but needed the resources of a Inquest marketing firm to bring that idea to fruition,"
We are raising funds to finally get the Drink Defender manufactured. We have done everything in our power to get it to this point and now we need some help. It has been our dream to bring this to life and have everyone using Drink Defenders. I love and totally believe in this product and think that everyone will as well. My family and I have put in so much time, energy and passion into making our dream a reality. With the funds we intend to get as many Drink Defenders manufactured as possible with the funds raised. We will fulfill all of the Kickstarter supporters orders and then get the Drink Defender out on social media, our website, tournaments, stadiums, and as many venues as possible across the country. This will be an exciting ride that we can't wait to be a part of! We appreciate the opportunity that Kickstarter presents for people like us!
Risks and challenges
The risk we will have after completing the project will be the inherent risk that products face when being manufactured. So any challenges that will arise as a direct impact from the manufacturer. Examples would include any delays on the manufacturers part, shipping delays, quality audits, etc. We would overcome these by ensuring that the manufacturer has a remediation plan as well to ensure we will receive the product in a reasonable amount of time and making sure the product meets our quality standards. We will also have more than one manufacturer so we are not solely relying on one organization to fulfill the product as we will have multiple options should our first option not be able to fulfill.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
