Help us re-open a DIY All Ages music/arts venue legitimately, to add another outlet for local & national artists to play in SLC and UT!
*We actually need to raise closer to $2000 but cannot risk not hitting our goal on Kickstarter, so we set the goal at $1000.*
The Shred Shed SLC started in early 2010 in the Granary District of Salt Lake as a DIY music venue/band practice space/art studio and overall place for the arts of SLC to reach an All Ages crowd. After closing my doors last year (fall '11) I immediately began looking for a new location!! This time, working with the County so that we could sustain for a long time!
Jumping forward to now, I have that new location! 60 E Exchange Place (350 so) - right in the heart of downtown! We have been working on raising money to cover the cost of building 2 bathrooms.....which is where you come in!! So far, everything has cost more than expected and we could use some help!
Please help us reach our goal and open a new All Ages Art Gallery/Music Venue in downtown SLC! We have an incredible art scene here in UT, lets keep it going strong :) !
Thank you so much
MORE ABOUT THE SHRED SHED SLC::
An interview with Gavin Sheehan about The Shred Shed SLC, from May 2012 :
-"It was very sad for me when I had to shut down and was just something that needed to happen to allow growth and re-building."
-"People can expect the old Shred Shed, an artist-run venue/art gallery whose goal is to help our community."
"We have a plethora of bars all over and very limited all-ages venues. I think very highly of the other all-ages venues in Utah and am happy they are here."
Thanks for reading.
Risks and challenges Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
WOW! So many. For the most part, everything that the city of Salt Lake has quoted us has been at least doubled. Meeting the requirements to open an all ages venue has been exhausting and expensive. We are having to update an old building to bring it up to code. Purchasing sound equipment, paint, art, and signage along with construction costs have been a little overwhelming.
Once we hit our goal we will be one HUGE step closer to opening! :)
