The Space Corridor Battle Zone Terrain is a new product aimed at providing a unique war games experience for a lower price with an increased modularity and storage capability. The plan for the set is to be injection molded and here we have the facilities to do that, but the cost in designing and manufacturing a mold for this is expensive and that's why we plan to use Kickstarter to help fund the project so we can bring our dream to your reality.
We are aiming to raise at least $60,000 AUD to cover the costs of the design teams and tool makers cost, as well as initial material and packaging costs needed to manufacture the orders for the Kickstarter backers. Out of the Funds raised we wish to make a new interactive website and also fund future designs and expansions for our terrain set.
This terrain set is just the first in what we hope will be a large range of affordable plastic terrain. Our first set is the Space Corridor Battle Zone for those close quarters conflicts that can represent boarding actions on space ships or battles in the dank dark network of corridors below an epic city.
The set was designed with storage and modular capability in mind, giving end users a product that can easily fit in small box making it easy to store and transport to have games at your local gaming store or in your buddies garage, wherever you want to game this set will be easily transported there. Next is the modularity of the set, allowing you to set up your walls and doors in any fashion, it means that no game will ever be the same and the set up you choose is limited by your imagination alone!
Our unique features sets us apart from other similar systems available, we hope that you too can see the value in these capabilities of our product.
The product will be made from High Impact Polystyrene Plastic, which is common plastic used in most plastic model kits.
There will also be the option for magnets for the Display and Conflict sets, the Warzone Set comes with them as standard (for Kickstarter all sets will contain magnets as a Free Gift). The magnets used are Neodymium magnets which have a strong attraction ensuring a strong bond between the different parts of the kit.
Each set comes with 3 different parts, The Pillars, The Walls and the Doors, each having recessed holes for magnets to allow the sections to connect to one another.
6mm x 1.5mm magnets are included in the Warzone Set of terrain!!
Each wall section is 4 Inches long and each Pillar is 2 Inches across, doors are also 4 inches long/wide. The image below is a 3D render of the potential product, some changes may be seen in the final product, such changes would be purely cosmetic and assist in the manufacturing of the product in our facility.
Here are a few additional images both 3D renders and a 3D prototype so you can see for scale how this product will look. Please keep in mind that the 3D printed prototype isn't a exact reflection of the final product. Injection molded products will have a clean crisp finish just like most plastic war games kits.
The below images are additional assets that will be produced if we can go beyond our initial goals. These are wall inserts that will allow for customisation of your wall sections to give them some extra character.
Please keep in mind that these images may vary to the final product, things may be altered for ease of production.
Where to Buy?

Risks and challenges
Injection Molding always has its high start up costs, and with that there are plenty of risks involved, particularly with the shipping and operating of such tools. Risks may be delays during transit or increased manufacturing delays which may push delivery times back which in most cases is usually a small hurdle that can be overcome with a a friendly chat to a customer, but the biggest risk is damage to the tool.
This can arise from many things moisture in the air, abrasive plastics, and short shot or failed injections. While these are usually uncommon under most circumstances there is always the potential for something to go wrong. and when it does it can become quite costly to repair.
While these are minor things the riskiest part of this venture is failure, all ventures have the potential for failure, but if we can develop a strong relationship with our customers and help satisfy them with a fantastic product then success will come along.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
