About this project
Hi, we’re Secret Cat!
We also respond to the names Ian (vox/synth/guitar), Charlie (guitar), Emile (drums), and Melati (bass).
We are an adventuresome rock noise band from Northern California. As small children we formed the group following an offer from Emile’s papa to teach us a handful of covers from the 70s and beyond. We have been working and growing together as musical companions ever since, building a stellar fan base in the greater Bay Area. Now that we are practiced and having more fun than ever, our music is ripe and ready-for-the-takin’ on the road to be shared with new ears and new queers, new freaks with few sneers.
We have just recorded an EP with Paul Haile and Navid Manoochehri of Greenhouse Recording. Smiling Songs is currently being mixed and mastered by the band’s own Ian Shoop and Andy Freeman, who has worked on some of our favorite records. It’s rockin' to finally be releasing a professional EP! As soon as the CDs are printed and sealed, we plan to cram our instruments into Charlie’s trusty Chevrolet and book it for the Pacific Northwest. This August tour will be particularly special because we have chosen to work with theatre extraordinaire, Quenby Dolgushkin, in creating a live mask and puppet performance in collaboration with our music. We are uncontrollably stoked that this is happening, and we know you will dig it too.
We need a little push to get this train rolling, and you can help! How? Contribute to this fund, and tell all your buddies who believe in the power of music!
WHAT THE MONEY IS FOR:
The money we raise from this campaign will go toward:
• The costs of recording, mixing, mastering, and printing our precious babe of an EP, called Smiling Songs.
• The myriad of expenses necessary to tour
• Printing tees and other goodies to make all the friendly faces that we meet along our adventure happy.
• Anything above this minimum amount will be put towards fueling next year’s goals – including a full length album, music videos, and a cross-country tour.
Risks and challenges
Risks are basically zero. Since we are in control of the production of all the rewards so there are no foreseeable hangups!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
