We’re all a little bit sad that it’s finally here, but we are very proud to unveil ‘Picture Perfect’ the final Morph episode of the brand new series which features a very special tribute to the late children’s TV presenter, Tony Hart.
Throughout the episode there is a subtle nod-to Hart who presented Take Hart, the show on which Morph first appeared on BBC1 in 1977. As you know, the brand new series was part-funded by 2654 of you lovely lot, which raised over £110,000 to fund fifteen brand new episodes. As part of the Kickstarter campaign, we asked you to suggest ideas of what Morph should get up to in the brand new series, and one fan’s idea was used as a basis for this final new episode.
Simon Copley from Yorkshire’s idea was chosen to be developed for this final adventure and we invited him down to our Aardman studios in Bristol last summer to see what goes on behind the scenes: "Watching the episode based on my idea for the first time was both exciting and tense. Working out how it had compared to the others and not knowing what to expect, knowing that the production team would have added to and polished the idea. I had already visualised it in my mind when coming up with it, so it took a moment to adjust to someone else's visualisation! I was delighted that so much of my original idea reached the screen. In particular, I was really pleased with the inclusion of the tribute to Tony Hart, so much part of my childhood TV years and an integral part of so many Morph outings."
Well done Simon! And thank you again to everyone who backed the project and made all this possible - it's been wonderful to have you along for the ride. This isn't the end for Morph, more like the start of a whole new chapter! We've got a few more tricks up our sleeve, so watch this space...
