Unfair parts replacement process


This update tells you how to request replacement parts for Unfair, including replacement cards for those affected by the production issues detailed previously.   

All backers will have received their copies within the next few weeks.

If your copy has any problems with cards that are 88mm tall, or with duplicated / missing packs, please use the replacement request process we have now set up for all Unfair Kickstarter backers (2 & 6 pack backers see far below) and late pledgers. The replacement process will be available for many months. We are charged for each new account that logs in, so please first check your copy of Unfair has:

  • 6 theme packs - Pirate, Jungle, Robot, Vampire, Ninja and Gangster (please sort the packs by the letter in their bottom right corner first), and 13 Kickstarter cards plus the thankyou card.
  • All cards 89mm tall cards
  • All components from page 2 of the rulebook

If you find a problem you may request any of the following replacement components:

  • The entire set of 362 correctly sized and sorted 89mm cards, including Kickstarter stretch goal cards (if you have any mis-sized cards or incorrect decks
  • Just the 13 Kickstarter stretch goal 89mm cards (in case your main cards are fine, but your 13 KS stretch goals are not)
  • A double-sided game board (see the board fold issue and suggested fix)
  • A Starting Player marker clear plastic base  
  • Current Step marker (roller coaster miniature)  
  • A pair of dice  
  • 16-page rulebook

Kickstarter single backers and late pledgers

1. Start the Unfair parts replacement process 

2. Enter the email address you used when you backed Unfair to get your invitation.

Enter the email you used for your pledge / order.
Enter the email you used for your pledge / order.

3. When the email from Good Games Publishing: '[your name], you may now request replacement Unfair cards and pieces' arrives, click "Click to Confirm Details".

4. Check your country, then click NEXT.

5. Choose the components that you need replaced and add each of these to the cart. Then click "NEXT".    

6. Set or check your mailing address. Click "USE ADDRESS".  

7. Check your replacement order. When satisfied with what's in there, click "CONFIRM ORDER".  

8. You'll receive a confirmation email.   

2 or 6 copy pledges

If you were part of a 2 or 6-copy pledge organised by someone else, your email wasn't recorded in Kickstarter. That means that it's not included in the Pledge Manager system we use to manage replacement requests yet. You can either:

  • Request that the person who pledged for your bundle also requests and manages your replacement parts. They will be able to order multiples of replacement parts and this is the cheapest option for us.
  • Request an invitation so you can manage it yourself (following steps 1 - 8 above) and we will issue you an invite to the replacement request system within 24 hours.

Delivery time for replacement cards and components

We are printing thousands of replacement cards and airmailing them all over the world from China. This will take some time but if all goes well you should receive your cards and other replaced items by early May 2017. If you only order other items they should reach you within about 3 weeks of your replacement request being made. 

Meanwhile, as you only shuffle the cards before the game and maybe once during it, you can still happily play Unfair now. Sleeving your cards will also remove the issue.

If you have any other issues resolving your replacement request, or have a problem we cannot fix through this system please message us directly via Kickstarter.

      I ordered my replacements (2 copies for the two copies of the game I purchased) back in May. I still haven't seen my replacements or any shipping notifications and it sounds like the late shipping copies have started arriving. Could someone please investigate what has happened to my copies?

      @Brandon Sherman - the board is deliberately lighter on one side. In addition to providing a different layout for play, the lighter side also has higher contrast between foreground and background for those who prefer that.

      @Manuel Sapage - please don't feel guilty about ordering replacement cards! We want to make sure you have the high-quality product we intended. The reason we chose to go for a complete replacement set instead of individual packs was to minimise the chance of any order selection problems.

      @Everyone - If you'd like to playtest future expansion packs, then your miscut cards can come in handy - you can use them as the card backs when making up a set of Print-n-Play cards for the testing packs. (For those with correct cards, you can still playtest too, you'll just need to print backs as well as fronts).

      So looking through my cards I noticed that the decks for Robot, Vampire, and promo are cut shorter than the other decks.

      My main question here is for the board. One side of it looks as though the color is lighter than the other side is that also a defect or was that on purpose? (printer issue?)

      @ Conor - I agree! I wish Good Games were clearer in their communication to backers!
      They could, for example, have put in this update a section called "Delivery time for replacement cards and components", headed in a larger font and bold for clarity.
      Then they could issue some useful information under that header, like, say, "We are printing thousands of replacement cards and airmailing them all over the world from China. This will take some time but if all goes well you should receive your cards and other replaced items by early May 2017. If you only order other items they should reach you within about 3 weeks of your replacement request being made. "
      They could even bold the May 2017, making it unmissable.
      If only more Kickstarter companies communicated with their backers so clearly!

      In the hand, the difference is hardly noticeable, and I was hoping I could avoid ordering replacements, but the difference makes it VERY difficult to shuffle the cards affectively.

      I requested the replacements, is there any kind of ETA? I have the receipt from the order I placed for the replacements, but with no tracking information or eta, it feels a little like a black hole.

      My robot deck and extra cards are affected. I really feel guilty asking for a replacement, but I am a little OCD and I really would like to have everything perfect. I really wished there was a request for only one deck.

      Thank you @GGU for being so supportive, even after the KS campaign ended. I'll make sure to keep an eye out and buy any expansions for this game.

      Thanks everyone - our solution is really designed to solve problems now and for the future.

      Of course if you sleeve like many do you might not care... its up to you.

      But rest assured replacing all cards solves any combination of problems you might have as simply as possible so it is a good solution. Dont feel guilty. That is on our manufacturer.

      I feel so bad requesting replacements given that onlt 2 decks were miscut. I have had so many nice conversations with Kate and so much support from Joel and Kim, I really wanted to be able to ignore this, and I'm someone who played a mis-sized unsleeved PnP version a dozen times. Once replacements arrive, I am going to take the original cards and my PnP board and donate them to my Game Group's library. My wife might even be able to dig out a set of poker chips from work to include. I am going to evangelize the hell out of this game if for no other reason than because Joel, Kate & Kim are awesome people (the fact that it is a really fun game is good too)

      After such a nice and successful kickstarter I feel like such a grump for requesting replacement cards. I recieved the shipment today (beautiful box!) and was sad to see that three of the six bundles were 89mm and the other three and the promo cards were 88mm. Not a huge difference, but noticeable as others have mentioned. Almost wish I could find another backer with the opposing set so we just could switch the mismatched cards. But as others have said, with the extremely generous replacement offer I am not disappointed in any way.

      Good Games USA have another true fan in me and I look forward to future expansions and games. Once I got the invitation email the replacement process was very easy and smooth. You set a new gold standard for how a great campaign and backer/customer service is set up. Thank you!

      There is definitely a noticeable difference in the two different cards sizes as you can feel it in your hand. However, the game is still playable! I want to salute Good Games USA in their being so quick to respond to the condition and providing a "FREE" fix to the issues! LOVE, Love, Love a company that SO CARES about their customers! They have a "Customer for Life" in me! GREAT WAY to handle the issue and besides.....the GAME IS FANTASTIC!! One of my favorite games of all time after having played 4 wonderful games of Unfair. This game was VERY WELL DESIGNED and oozes with Theme!! Great Job Good Games USA! I salute YOU! : )

      @ Elisa: the lighter and darker red is indeed part of the game. Base attractions are darker red, all upgrades are slightly lighter. We've had reports that invitations can take up to 45 mins to arrive. I'll see if I can find you in the system and resend the invitation. You may also want to whitelist just in case it's landing in your spam folder.

      Hi guys ! I received my copy two days ago.
      :) i can't wait to play it!!!
      However .... I think I'm one of the bakers that have a problem with the board and the cards (bump on the middle of the board and my cards don't have the same sizes).
      I also notice that the reddish/wine colour around the cards is darker on some of them (park cards). This is probably nothing and might be part of the game.
      I enter my email to register on the online platform to replace these elements. But I never received anything. It worries me because that happen sometime with my mail box. (Yes I checked my spam box and nothing here neither...) how long does it Take to receive the invite ? Does anyone else have the same issue ?

      Checked my set and found issues with the card length and board as well. Unfortunate that it happened. Still, kudos to @Good Games USA for taking the responsibility and ensuring all the parts with issues gets a replacement. You have my trust and confidence. Amazing job.       This is really cool of you guys to stand behind your product like this. It really means a lot to us backers (or at least it does to me). It means I'll look at your next idea with a lot more confidence that you will follow through, which is a good thing. All I need is a replacement of the short cut cards. Thanks again for doing this.

      After opening my second copy, I happened to check the dice (luckily). I was surprised to that while one of them was normal, the other had three 6s and three 2s. I had to check the dice in my first copy to be sure it wasn't intentional, but no, they were both normal.

      I'm glad the replacement page includes dice!

      I'm not sure why sleeves would cost you that much. Maybe, it's because your preferred sleeves are premium grade. If you don't prefer premium grade sleeves, maybe you should look around for cheaper choices.
      For me, the cost to sleeve cards (especially for cards of this particular size) is pretty low. I can buy a 1 kilogram of unbranded sleeves from a local Magic the Gathering game shop for about $6 and that's more than enough for 3 booster boxes of Magic the Gathering (about 1700 cards). For more than 10 years, I never have any problem with these unbranded cheap sleeves (except for some mis-cut sleeves from time to time which I just throw away). So, I naturally sleeve every single card. It's like another little hobby of our greater hobby. :)

      First of all, thank you so much for your efforts sorting this card issue out. It must be painful to you guys but you still do it. I really appreciate that and I'm so proud that I backed your project!

      Secondly, the replacement request website is very easy to use. I have bought about 50 games (offline and online, including 20 Kickstarter projects), some of them have component issues. Your system is the smoothest one thus far from my personal experience. Great job!

      I did the pledge manager thing but, as someone else said, the confirmation email didn't have details of what was being replaced. So I don't know for sure if what I intended (2 copies of replacement cards) was what got through.
