About the Film
Imagine growing up in the country you call home without legal status. Or not seeing your family for years because they've been deported. Indivisible is about the real people at the heart of our nation's immigration debate. The film's main characters were small children when their parents brought them to the United States in search of a better life; they were teenagers when their mothers, fathers, and siblings were deported. Today, they are known as Dreamers—immigrants who grew up and live in the United States without documentation. Indivisible takes place at a pivotal moment in their lives, as they fight for a pathway to citizenship and a chance to reunite with their loved ones.
Evelyn Rivera was three years old when her family fled Colombia to escape drug-related violence. Evelyn grew up in Orlando, Florida with her parents and two U.S.-citizen sisters. In 2007, Evelyn’s mother was deported after being arrested for driving without a license. Now 25, Evelyn has been separated from her mother for more than six years.
Renata Teodoro, born in Brazil, was six years old when she made the harrowing journey across the U.S.-Mexico border with her mother and two siblings. In 2007, Renata’s entire family—her mother, brother, and sister—was deported after immigration officials raided their home. Now 25, Renata lives in Boston, Massachusetts. She has been separated from her family for nearly seven years.
Throughout the campaign, we will be introducing you to Dreamers from the film. Stay tuned for their stories!
Meet the Indivisible team and find out why we are making this film.
Hilary Linder is a first-time filmmaker and the Director of Indivisible. Her passion for social justice and international affairs has taken her around the world, but when Hilary decided to make her first documentary, she chose to focus on an issue that she believes will shape the identity of the United States for generations to come—immigration reform.
Why we need your help.
Indivisible has been in production for six months. Since May, Indivisible has walked the halls of Congress with Dreamers as they shared their stories with lawmakers. Indivisible has marched through the streets with Dreamers while they chanted "sí se puede" and declared themselves "undocumented and unafraid." And Indivisble traveled to the Arizona-Mexico border fence to film the emotional reunion of three Dreamers with their mothers after years of separation. But there is much more to be done.
The funds generated from this Kickstarter campaign will enable the next phase of filming. With your help, Indivisible will be able to continue filming the Dreamers as they advocate for immigration reform in Washington, D.C. We will be able to film Evelyn and Renata at their homes in Orlando and Boston to provide an even more personal glimpse into their lives. And the funds will help us travel to Latin America to film their deported family members.
This is an all-or-nothing campaign. If we don’t reach our goal by the deadline, we get nothing.
Ways you can help:
1) Check out the rewards in the right hand column and, if you can, make a donation to help Indivisible continue to film. Every dollar counts and no donation is too small. We are sincerely grateful for your help.

Thank you so much for your support!
Risks and challenges
One of the biggest challenges for any independent film is completion. Finding the funding to continue filming is a constant challenge. The $30,000 goal of this Kickstarter campaign is an important part of our production budget, which is why your support means so much to us! With the money raised through Kickstarter, we will be able to continue capturing the stories of incredible Dreamers and get a big step closer to completing the film.
Once the film is complete, Indivisible will focus on reaching our audience. We have a plan for wide distribution, and we will look to our Kickstarter supporters to help us spread the word.
The ultimate goal for the film is to make a difference by raising awareness and continuing the conversation about immigration in the United States. We are always looking for ways to have an impact—now and once the film is complete.
