Passion Burns in Fire Hose Mats
Fabulous friends in fire hose! Here's a look what’s going on behind this Ox. Today, LauraLe met with the tall team at Alameda County Fire. One of the premiere departments in the nation – ACF serves the unincorporated areas of Alameda County, Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, and the cities of Dublin, Emeryville, Newark, San Leandro, and Union City. (In other words – plenty of ground to cover.) Thanks to Capt. Hinton and crew, we salvaged approximately 1300 pounds of material today alone, that would otherwise go to landfill. Instead, it will go into Oxgut mats and other products, and perhaps some – into playground equipment for The Children’s Burn Foundation camps. Yes! Thanks, guys!!!
Throughout the last couple weeks, the entire Oxgut team has been hard at work to make production a reality. This week alone, Kevin, Jim, Greg, Saul and others have restored old washers and built racks that are integral to our hose washing process. While Kumiko and Micah honed in on remaining design and hardware details. Over the past months, we’ve also been unbelievably fortunate to have the help of talented friends, family, and colleagues in a wide variety of roles, from photography to hose washer, to schlepper and storage facilitator. Not to mention our killer design and branding team!
Why are all these people working so darn hard? Passion. We all truly share a passion for this project, this concept, this work. We cannot stop.
And, we won't. Thanks to the great feedback you're sending. We are just 59% funded with only 15 days remaining. But, with your continued support and increased visibility, we will bring fire hose mats to your doorstep!
Thanks for helping us make it happen.
