Shipping Soon/Survey Responses

2 いいね!

Hello everyone-

The last few months have been an exciting time. In addition to The Gem People,I've been working on some other projects. I've finished the initial draft of one other book, a middle-grade humor novel, and am halfway through another YA.

And the good news: The Gem People is ready to ship. I sent a survey out a couple weeks ago. If you missed the survey or haven't responded to it yet, let me know as this is how I get your shipping information. The books should ship next week.

Those of you receiving artwork/portraits, expect another two-three weeks.

Again, thanks to all of you for your support. I really can't say how much it's meant to me.

Actually I can.

Every time I think of your support, I feel all warm and fuzzy inside. Seriously.

Update #3 - Rolling Right Along (also, Vanishing Ink)

Things are moving right along. I'm working on the illustrations and final revision. Things are ahead of schedule, so hopefully we can ship a month or two early.

I'll post some illustrations next week. Until then, here's another project you might want to check out.

Scott was an animator for the Alvin and the Chipmunks movie as well as DreamWorks Dragon Adventure. He is Kickstarting his own book, Vanishing Ink, about a washed up musician who is chosen to save the world. His art is superb and the story looks like a lot of fun.

I'm backing his project, as it looks fantastic. Give it a look when you have a chance.

Interview with the Standard Examiner

Interview with Standard Examiner

Hello everyone-

The lovely folks at the Standard Examiner (local paper with a circulation of over 65,000) brought me in for an interview about this project. The article has just been published. Here's the link to the video portion:

I was also interviewed by the Signpost, the paper at Weber State University. Here's that interview (I'll admit as a teacher I feel an urge to bust out the red pen on this one):

I've been working to get the word out as much as possible. This is a great start!

As far as the book, everything is on track. I'm working on cover layout, illustrations, and the final revision right now. Finals are coming up (I teach college English) so the next couple weeks will be a bit crazy with grading and over-stressed students, but I'm ahead of schedule to have everything finished and shipped early next year.

Again, still working on the stretch goal of $6,500, so I greatly appreciate any project link forwards to your friends or others who might be interested.

Thanks for your support and happy Thanksgiving!

Funding goal reached - here's what's next

When I started this project, I hoped to raise around $3,000 over 30 days. Thanks to all of you, the project raised $4,000 in just three.

In other words, we've been successfully funded - and then some.

Even more exciting: word is just starting to get out. This morning I did an interview for a newspaper. I have a second one this afternoon.

The story is starting to resonate with people. I think it can resonate with even more. Therefore...

STRETCH GOAL.

If the project can reach $6,500, I will write a special short story, with illustrations, taking place in the world of the Gem People. It will be made free in eBook form to everyone who has pledged $25 or more. Again, the more funding the project receives, the easier it is for me to get the book out there.

Thank you again for all you've done. Simple things like Facebook likes, shares, tweets, and emails go a long way.

Day 1 - Wow

You guys are fantastic.

I can't say how much I appreciate all your help so far. So many of you have already shared the project with your friends on Facebook and over emails. It means a lot to me and I thank you.

Day 1 was huge. The project is has already crossed the crucial 60% mark and still has 28 days to go. Today I am contacting local news agencies, bloggers and other groups to try to get the word out even further. I'm going to work as hard as I can to make sure this thing goes as far as possible.

(If you have any connections here that you wouldn't mind sharing, please let me know.)

More updates to come - I just wanted to use this first one to thank each and every one of you.
