****New Stretch Goal $5000 will Unlock the Legends expansion, Turning Robin Hood: Hero of the People into a campaign based story driven adventure****

12th Century England was a time of tyranny. King Richard the Lionheart was fighting his crusade in the holy land leaving his country and his people at the mercy of his brother, the corrupt and greedy Prince John. Under the Princes regime, the people of England suffered. Prince John taxed his people into poverty. Starving and cold, they turned to petty crime to survive, making ordinary men outlaws.

Punishment was dealt swiftly and harshly. The cruel and sadistic Sheriff of Nottingham had no tolerance for outlaws. He would imprison men, women and children for minor crimes and publicly execute prisoners as a warning to others. Meanwhile, after years of fighting alongside King Richard in the Crusades, Robin of Loxely returns home to find his lands seized, his father murdered and his country in turmoil. On his fathers grave, he becomes an outlaw and vows to avenge his fathers death, defend the crown and free the people from the cruelty and suffering they endure.

As Robin Hood, you’ll rob from the rich, and give to the poor; battle the Sheriff of Nottingham and his goons; and recruit your merry men. Increase your influence over the people to gain power and win the game, but be careful: the Sheriff has put a bounty on your head. If it gets too high, the people will turn you in for the reward.

Contents:

  • 90 Cards (Story 1, Story 2, Characters, Loot, King Richard and Sherwood Forest)
  • "Bounty tracker" player mat
  • Wooden disc bounty token

I really like that the game mechanic is simple and lets me get straight to playing but still leaves enough strategy aspect to engage my mind. Geek Mom

Robin Hood is a solid game: fun, exciting and good-looking. The game makes good use of its theme and has an interesting set of mechanisms that feel like you really are recruiting/rescuing your band of merry men and doing battle with the Sheriff of Nottingham. The Indie Game Report

Overall I say the game is really good. There’s nobody else to mess with your plans, nor help them succeed. There’s no AI or ghost player. Just you versus the game. Purple Phoenix Games

Overall, the game is fun – and worth a couple of playthroughs. You’ll find yourself challenging yourself by necessity after you’ve beaten the game once or twice, and that’s bound to inject a bit more intrigue into the game. Australian Tabletop Gaming Network

There simply aren’t enough Robin Hood games out there. He remains one of my favorite characters and stories to visit, especially the original Middle English tales, and so any time I see Robin Hood as a theme I’m going to be interested. It has some nice artwork that evokes the modern version of Robin Hood. Cardboard Clash

Robin Hood: Hero of the People was designed for The Game Crafter Solo Design Contest. It came in 3rd place beating out nearly 40 other entries.

Risks and challenges

After researching Kickstarter for the past year, there's a lot of pitfalls that have tripped up over creators. I've done my best to avoid the same pitfalls.
I've already invested a fair amount of cash to get the artwork to the standard it is now. This is the final artwork so I won't have to spend more time and cash to get it ready.
I've also decided to partner with The Game Crafter for production and fulfilment. The Game Crafter is a Print on Demand service based in the US. As I'm planning on a small print run of between 100- 200 copies a print on demand service will work well and their bulk ordering pricing makes each copy affordable. Also as their US-based I won't run into communication and language issues. I've been using The Game Crafter for years and I know that they can deliver and on time.
