Second Stretch Goal -- Map of Sailor Moon's Azabu-Juban!

Let's Make a Map of Azabu-Juban!

I know I've said this over and over again, but I continue to be absolutely amazed by the outpouring of support for this "Prism Power" book. I'm really excited to finally see this start to take shape and to watch an idea existing only in my head take shape as something I can physically hold in my hand.

And, even more so, that other people can also hold and (hopefully!) enjoy.

For the second stretch goal, I thought that this would be a great opportunity to finally bring to life something that I've wanted to do for a long time: create a fully-illustrated map of Azabu-Juban as it existed in the Sailor Moon universe.

Fortunately for us, many of the places we see in the series are based on real-world locations, which gives us the ability to avoid a lot of baseless guesses when creating a map. For example:

  • Game Center Crown
  • TA Gakuin
  • TV Ashita
  • Osa-P
  • The Juban Market tower
  • Hikawa Shrine

... all either actually exist, or were heavily inspired by places in the real world.

What i'd like to do is create a full-color map of Azabu-Juban that includes these (and many more!) landmarks from the anime and manga to give a sense of what the world of Sailor Moon would have looked like for those who lived in it.

Just to be clear, the goal of this project is to create a map of locations existing in Sailor Moon and is not intended to be a map of the actual Azabu-Juban. This may be a relatively minor difference, but it does mean that there are two important things to keep in mind:

  • locations will be known by their names in the Sailor Moon series (meaning "TA Academy for Girls," the school that Rei attends, rather than the real world "Toyo Eiwa Jogakuin")
  • locations are as they existed in 1992 (and may not reflect how things look today)

For those looking for a comprehensive tour guide to Azabu-Juban for Sailor Moon fans, I'm afraid this isn't going to be what you're looking for. Though that would be a good idea for a future project...

Stretch Goal Details (Cost, Tiers, Rewards!)

And that brings us to the all-important stretch goal details.

If this Kickstarter campaign hits $4,000, I'll be able to make this map a reality.

The additional funds will be used for commissioning the art, Kickstarter fees, printing, and rewards fulfillment. And speaking of rewards....

Anyone supporting a tier that includes a poster will also receive a poster-sized copy (36 x 51cm; ~ 14" x 20") of the map. No additional shipping will be charged.

The following tiers will receive a physical copy of the map:

  • Super Book Power, Make Up!
  • Eternal Book Power, Make Up!
  • Super Exclusive Power, Make Up!
  • Eternal Exclusive Power, Make Up!

Digital Wallpaper (for PC/Mac)

All tiers will receive a desktop wallpaper-sized digital edition of the map.

In Closing...

Before I go, I just want to take a moment to thank everyone who has supported me and this project -- whether monetarily, emotionally, or otherwise -- and to once again emphasize that I like to think of "Prism Power" not as something I'm making, but rather a creation coming out of the Sailor Moon fandom.

If you have any questions, comments, or thoughts about this project, I'd love to hear from you. You can find me either through this Kickstarter, the Tuxedo Unmasked blog, on Twitter, or on Facebook.

Just curious, will the early exclusive backers receive a physical copy of the map as well?
