Duelga blends the physicality of martial arts combat with the strategy of a card game. Choose a duelist, pick your styles, and weapon then build your 20 card deck from the over 60 unique cards in our core set. Command your duelist in 1 v 1, 1 v 2, or 2 v 2 duels to the death.
The core set comes with 8 unique duelists, 25 styles, 12 weapons, and 256 total cards. The game can be enjoyed by all levels of players ages 12 and up. Customizable decks allow for complex or straight forward gameplay. We even supply a list of stock decks to get you started.
Duelga has been demoed at multiple game stores across four states. Hundreds of people have played the game and we keep hearing "So how can I get a set?" From card newbies to veteran players the game is easy to pick up, play, and enjoy. Check out our website for weekly Demo locations and times to find and challenge other players.
"I am impressed by what I saw... What attracted me the most were the customization options that were available when deck-building. Players are only limited by traits that appear on certain cards, the rest is up to the individual play style in question. Some characters are suited for one, powerful attack that does tons of damage while others excel at weaker strikes that hit more than once."
How To Play
Players build decks with a Duelist, a Weapon, two Styles, and twenty Action cards. To start a 1 v 1 game, both players lay out their Duelists, Weapons, and Styles, and draw two Action cards into their hands. Randomly decide who goes first.
Each turn the active player draws two more cards and has two actions: Move and Strike. The Move action can be a Step – move diagonally once to a different side of the Opponent’s Duelist, or Rotate – turn your own Duelist 90 degrees. To Strike, you must have an Attack Angle towards the Opponent. As your Strike action, you can Basic Strike for the combined strength of your Attack Angle and your Weapon and Styles, or use a red (offense) card for a special Strike. The defender may play blue (defense) cards to boost their defense, prepare a counterattack, or avoid an attack altogether. When a Strike lands, subtract the total Defense from the combined Strike power to determine the damage done.
The game ends when either Duelist loses the last of their 40 hit points.
Multiplayer games work in a similar fashion, where players form two teams and must consider their positioning not only as individuals but as part of an overall team strategy. With the core set you can create up to 4 fully functioning decks, but with expansions or additional core sets you can have up to 3 v 3 battles.
Duelga has 2 expansions available, Ki and Glimmer Blood. Each add a new element to the game that's in balance with the core set. Each expansion brings new mechanics as well as a host of new cards to defeat your opponents.
Inspired by Japanese Ki. These cards focus on lasting buffs and bring a host of ability altering Stances to the game. Your Ki to your victory.
Glimmer Blood Expansion
This expansion is all about magic. Spells, elemental damage, and magical duelists with new abilities. If you like hurling fireballs and hexing your opponent this expansion is made for you.
We are already working on future expansions that add more parts to the game. Teamwork Styles, Armor, Shields, Dual-wielding, Kung-Fu Styles, Dirty Fighting, and Duelists borrowed from other cultural lore.
Duelga has gone through multiple versions on home printed cards with place holder art. We now have an art designer and character artist ready and waiting to take us from "do it yourself" to professional quality materials. That's where we need your backing. Become a part of the active and growing Duelga community and join us in taking this game to the next level.
Game art used in Kickstarter and demos is not final and may appear slightly different in final product .
Risks and challenges
Black Mountain Gamesmiths has been creating games for a couple years now. This will be our first mass produced game but we have sourced all materials, received samples, and are certain we will remain within our budget. The game has been tested, tested, and tested again to ensure balance and fine tune mechanics. We will probably be tweaking numbers, making the game even better, all the way to printing.
Our company Black Mountain Gamesmiths is incorporated in the state of Indiana and we even have a business checking account with big checks and everything.
With some overseas production there is always risk of transportation delays and other risks associated with shipping.
Transparency is key and we will be certain to communicate any and all issues with every backer.
Everything should go swimmingly as long as the Duelist cards don't come to life and challenge us to a duel.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
